@busy_bee_me 💯Too many families are far too busy with sports and other activities that don’t have any eternal impact.

Our entire stake conference this weekend was a reminder that our purpose as a church is eternal families. That anything not actively moving individuals in that direction needs to be cut, that simplicity will help us focus, and Good Better Best means letting go of a lot of good things to make room for the only thing that really matters: families.

I would recognize that mural in the background anywhere. That's the Hudson building in Denver! It's the only Latter-day Saint chapel I've ever seen with a mural in it. It's really cool-- if you ever get bored with the talk (not that that ever happens, of course 😉), you just examined the amazing painting behind the speaker. I served in that building in two different areas on my mission. I have many memories of it. We crawled through the tunnel under the building over to the old coal room and checked out the coal chute. Legend was that a homeless guy crawled down there to get warm back in the day and got buried under a delivery of coal and died. The building has a weird layout. The chapel part is an L shape, and the kitchen is right off of the stand. There a classroom up in the steeple itself that one of the young men's classes used to meet in. Way cool. We didn't form many relationships with the members because our mission president at the time told us if we didn't have an investigator at church we had no business being there-- we were to to go back outside and start tracting right after sacrament meeting. That meant a long walk back to our ward's boundaries to knock a few doors, then walk back to arrive in time for correlation meeting.

Over the last decade, the brothers of the Church have lost the following: General Priesthood session of Conference High Priest Group and Group leadership callings Young Men's Presidencies Boy Scouts Priesthood preparation These institutions connected men to either a global fraternity or leadership opportunities that are now reduced in scope and direction and what remains has been increased in responsibility. While the reasons, real or imagined, for these changes are varied, the impact has been real and calamitous for men and boys in the church. Direction, support and guidance in the absence of these programs has been sparse, leaving male leadership without direction or institutional support for programs. This is a real problem, and anyone who denies this is not a serious person. One of two things must happen 1) the church institutes a more cohesive, centralized plan and direction for male oriented leadership at all levels 2) Men step up to the plate and in the absence of direction institute their own programs at the local and regional level, through the guidance of the Spirit. I think the Church has been clear which direction is required at this time. Men. It's time to step up and lead.

A study found that women who serve missions tend to experience academic gains. They are more likely to move into majors with higher earning potential. Even women with lower SAT scores before their mission become more likely to be accepted into competitive programs afterward.

@GrayM0untain Since the age change, more missionaries have ended up marrying someone from their mission…and that will only increase as girls serve younger. But the bigger issue with birth rates isn’t marriage; it’s young married couples being too selfish to have babies.

The mission age change for YW will blast out the convert baptism numbers (more sisters will serve)... While simultaneously diminishing already abysmal birthrates in the motherland, Utah. Feminism lite.

@Latterdaytruth Pray for every boy, by name, every night. That’s hands down the #1 thing you should start doing and you will be inspired to know what else you should do. It doesn’t need to be elaborate for each boy, but say their individual names every night in prayer.

@breecaii2 If I sustain living prophets, as I promise to do for a temple recommend, then I accept their clear teaching on what “hot drinks” means in the Word of Wisdom. To me obedience to that counsel on that particular aspect of the WoW is absolutely not negotiable.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/new-era/…

I've noticed a lot of my acquaintances who drink coffe in the morning and go to the temple at night. This is not a judgement post, just genuinely curious how they justify that. Do they not think it's against the word of wisdom? Or they don't care?

Paying tithing isn’t the issue. Telling people in poverty to pay their tithing before their living expenses is the issue.

@BretBryce @CaitlinJustini This book goes beyond implying that it’s okay to like to do “girl things.” Boys do need affirming voices letting them know that just because they like to do “girl things” it doesn’t make them gay or born in the wrong body. You would make a great voice for them.

@CaitlinJustini “Girl things” is a cultural construct of gender. It’s different than gender dysphoria, transitioning, or being gay. Straight kids who like doing “girl things” need affirming voices telling them that doesn’t make them gay or born in the wrong body. Don’t miss that angle.

Deseret Book ad… so sad. “You want to better understand the temple? Or have your 5-8 yr old daughter read book about the prince that has a secret identity doing all girl things? We have you covered!” The book completely pushes an overt transgender agenda to kids.

@BretBryce @CaitlinJustini This book isn’t about “girl things” vs “boy things” it is clearly pushing the trans narrative. Read this page for yourself.

The RealFaith team has gotten so many great questions from our Christian family over the last few days about Mormonism, what it teaches, and how it differs from Christianity. They put together this fantastic resource, and I wrote a foreword for it that will hopefully help many gain some more clarity on what Christianity is and isn't. Link in the comments ⬇️

A farm boy with no formal education, through the gift of God, translated a book that has changed millions of lives and been read beyond measure. I sometimes wonder if that makes Pastor Mark feel a bit inferior. His shelves of books could only dream of having that kind of impact.

One of our living apostles, set the record straight in a very concise way as to how we differ from traditional creedal christianity. I hope you give it a listen. This is Elder Holland (educator and former President of BYU)

I have a relative in Utah who is a stake primary president. She tries to visit each ward as they do their primary program. So far this year, two of her wards did not sing a single song from either the children’s songbook nor the new hymnbook. I don’t like this trend. Stick to the songbook. Our kids don’t even know most of those songs anymore since so much time is spent on outside music. People over complicate primary chorister more than any other calling.
