Uganda’s SMEs are rapidly embracing digital tools from cloud accounting to mobile payments and real-time customer engagement but while this shift is unlocking growth, it is also increasing exposure to cyber threats. @NITAUganda1 hosted a workshop focused on strengthening cybersecurity for SMEs, highlighting the urgent need for practical, affordable protections tailored to small and medium businesses through the development of a Cybersecurity Standard for SMEs. The Cybersecurity Standard for SMEs will offer the following advantages: ✅Enhanced trust. ✅Operational continuity. ✅Cost savings. ✅Simplified compliance. With cybercrime on the rise, the development of a dedicated Cybersecurity Standard for SMEs marks a critical step toward building trust, ensuring business continuity, and supporting compliance in today’s digital economy. #CyberSecurity #SMEs #NITAU

Day 5. Final Day of the Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Kampala ⚡️🇺🇬 We wrapped things up the best way possible. By building. The final day was dedicated to a mini hackathon, with 7 groups working on different ideas built on top of everything they had learned over the past few days. You could feel the shift immediately. Each group presented what they built, how they approached the problem, and the challenges they faced along the way. It wasn’t just about the final product, it was about the thinking behind it. One moment that stood out. A solo female developer went head to head with full teams and came out second, just a few points behind the winner. That tells you everything you need to know about the level of talent in the room. In the end, sats were awarded to both the winning team and the runner up, a small but meaningful reward for the work put in over the week. Shout out to @GorillaSats and @BitDevsKLA for contributing to the sats prize. But beyond the prizes, the real win was clear. Developers who came in curious are leaving as builders. Thanks to @BrindonMwiine and team, the bootcamp also led to the creation of the first Bitcoin Club at Makerere University, Kampala. That’s a huge win. Huge thanks to our instructor, @dzeg5, for leading from the front and making sure no one was left behind. Shout out to the team, @EMbits, @megasley, @BrindonMwiine, @afansabila, and @NowarugabaG for putting everything together and making this bootcamp a success. And to our sponsors, thank you for backing something that actually builds capacity and grows the ecosystem: @HRF @OpenSats @Tether_Africa @planb_network @afribitcoiners @GorillaSats @BitDevsKLA Next stop: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Bitcoin Starlight School Update 🎉 January & February were dedicated to completing 4 new modern buildings, thanks to Isma’s diligence in supervising the project. We then hosted the only #Bitcoin Artist, @dennis_kasagga, who beautified our walls with multiple murals and Bitcoin paintings. The children actively participated in both the construction and re-painting of their own school; skills and talents were discovered for sure. 👍🏾 We continue to thank @Bitcoinbeach, @TrezorAcademy, @BitcoinBeachBR, @BitcoinEkasi and all those who donated to the “savestarlight school campaign.” Crazy we achieved the first-ever Bitcoin School in Africa fully funded in #Bitcoin. 🙌🏾 Read our story & Donate via bitcoinconfederation.org/hub/save-starl… More pictures 👇🏽👇🏽

A friend of mine used to say: “Show up on time, with a good attitude, and do what you said you’d do. That’s it. That’s 90% of winning in life." The older I get, the more I realize just how right he was.

This. 👇👇👇 @binance sponsoring a "crypto" educational program. ... is inappropriate. By all means, sponsor a soccer team or something, but if you profit from 💩coin trading, you shouldn't be touching education. The headline says it all: Crypto ≠ Scam. Really? @talkcentss, where were you for the ICO craze of 2017, or the NFT & Defi madness of 2021? How many thousands upon thousands of crypto projects were literal pump & dump schemes? Pure hype, designed to fleece people. And how many of those were traded on Binance? Will this program look into that? And will this program make a clear differentiation between Bitcoin and everything else? Because if it doesn't, it demonstrates a very basic lack of understanding. You should ask your producers: 1. Which cryptos match, or come close to matching Bitcoin in its decentralization? And why does decentralization matter? (Hint: Bitcoiners literally fought a civil war in 2017 and risked the existence of the project to settle that question... that's how important it is.) 2. Which cryptos (other than so-called stablecoins) have found real world application, beyond speculation and trading? In other words, which cryptos are actually solving a problem, today? And what problem are they solving? 3. The third largest crypto (by market capitalization) is a completely centralized stable coin, USDT. It's a crypto dollar, and it lacks 99% of everything that makes Bitcoin valuable. It also rests on the US government's massive, unprecedented and completely unsustainable $38T debt bubble. Yet, the market sees more value in that than 99% of all other crypto. What does that say about the rest of crypto? 4. Bitcoin's dominance is back up above 60%. It was challenged in 2017, and dropped to below 40% but recovered in 2019 & 2020 to above 70%. Same thing repeated itself in 2021 to 2023/2024. What does this pattern say about crypto? (Hint: Reality -> Hype -> Speculation -> Crash -> Reality) 5. And if you exclude stable coins Bitcoin dominance is anywhere between 65 - 70%? After 17 years of experimentation, with thousands upon thousands of alternatives dumped on the market, Bitcoin is more than twice as valuable as everything else in crypto. What does this say about everything else? Bottom line, @talkcentss, is this: If you're truly interested in education, what you should be doing is the following: (Your sponsor won't like this) 1. Explain the basics of fiat money and why it is a problem to attempt printing something out of nothing. Explain how many times throughout history this has failed and resulted in chaos. 2. Explain why and how **decentralized** digital scarcity works as money and how it solves this problem. 3. Recommend that people work hard, earn their living as they normally would, and save whatever they can in Bitcoin. 4. Educate people on how Bitcoin makes the world a better place, by separating Money and State. 5. Suggest that people not only buy into Bitcoin to protect their wealth, which they should, but also buy into the idea that grassroots adoption of Bitcoin improves the world for everyone. See point 4 above. 6. Recommend that people stay away from the temptation to try and get-rich-quick by buying / trading crypto. 7. Back-up that recommendation by explaining the very real fact that, unless they're already sophisticated traders, if they buy anything else other than Bitcoin, they'll probably lose money. 8. And finally, ask that people be entirely honest with themselves before buying anything, by asking themselves three very simple questions: A: Do I understand what I am buying? B: Can I afford to lose this? C: Am I buying this with a long term vision to protect my wealth from currency debasement, or am I buying this purely in the hope to become rich, without a solid thesis to back it up? Finally, @talkcentss, based on more than a decade of experience (including buying the top in 2013 and diving head first into a roller-coaster that's never stopped since then) here's a summary of lessons learnt: Bitcoin is the innovation. It will change money. Crypto, as we know it today, will continue to fade into irrelevance, despite the artificial hype created by those who profit from its control. And its precisely because of a lack of any such control that Bitcoin is different. Control = Power Power = Corruption We've seen enough of that. @talkcentss, if you really want to help South Africans, you should seriously consider these questions and suggestions.
David (TalkingCents)@talkcentss

𝗖𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼 ≠ 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 Many South Africans are still skeptical about Crypto, that is why @binance is on a drive to 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘. Schedule: ( Saturdays at 3pm) on S3: 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟭: "Crypto? Yoh! What is it even?" 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟮: "Bitcoin at Braais: why everyone’s talking crypto." 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟯: "Scam or strategy? Busting Crypto myths." 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟰: "Cool, but what can I do with Crypto?" 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟱: “Side hustles and smart moves: how Crypto works for you.” 🔸𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟲: “The future called. It wants you on the blockchain.”
