@smclaughlin9 I get your point Scott and it's valid. However, I just feel this list is comparing apples to oranges. Calling players that have played in more than 50 NHL games prospects and then comparing them with those who have not yet set foot on NHL ice seems a bit absurd.

@OBX29 I think it makes sense, actually. Like, Poitras has played 69 NHL games, but is clearly not fully established yet given that he only played 3 last season. But if all 69 of those games came last season and he was a full-time NHLer all year, I'd say he was established.

If Matthew Poitras would of stayed healthy and not require season-ending surgery he would of finished with more that 35 points as a rookie. And he was being yo-yo’d throughout the lineup too People are sleeping on Poitras but I am here for his revenge tour in the NHL (wherever that may be) #NHL #BRUINS #NHLBRUINS
Marcussi@Marcussi_MA

Since 2000, Fraser Minten's 2025-26 season scored more points (35) than these #NHLBruins in their rookie seasons ⤵️ 29 — Phil Kessel (2006-07) 27 — David Krejci (2007-08) 27 — Milan Lucic (2007-08) 27 — David Pastrnak (2014-15) 22 — Tyler Seguin (2010-11)

Darren Raddysh would seemingly address plenty of flaws on Boston's blue line. But there's plenty of risk involved for a Bruins team already feeling the sting of a few ill-advised contracts. Breaking down the pros and cons of such a deal: boston.com/sports/boston-…

@TCalauttis @BNGProductions Great article. Feel it would have made such a difference in his development if Poitras had a coach like Sturm from the beginning instead of Monty who changed his linemates daily and benched him at the first mistake.

@ConorRyan_93 Problem is moving forward I think he's going to be an attractive option now for teams needing to replace a GM.

The Bruins would have no qualms over the Canucks mismanaging such a deal. Would be a significant loss for the Bruins' operations team if Gold (and several key staffers) went west.
Greg Wyshynski@wyshynski

There were many in the NHL, on and off the record, that believed Evan Gold was going to be the next Canucks GM. So what happened? I mean, it's usually money in situations like this, so that's one option. Especially when the team is paying millions to people not to work ...

@RosanoJames @BruinsMedia11 His best chance to play a full NHL season might be on another team that has a roster spot available. A team that’s younger or doing a rebuild. A trade might be in his best interest at this point.

Here is a creation of a potential offseason for the Boston Bruins from Cam: Trade 1 addresses the need of a top 6 F and top 4 defenseman. Zellweger and McTavish are both young and have upside. The Ducks would get three picks, a prospect in Poitras, and Mittdelstadt. The second trade is sending Lohrei off to Nashville. Bruins would be bringing in a young and tough forward in Zachary L’Hereoux Finally the Bruins adding a 2nd to ship off Korpisalo to Edmonton I would love to re-sign Arvidsson but his age and injury history does concern me. I wouldn’t sign him for more than a 2x4.5 Andrew Peeke will get decent money on the open market. Let him walk Lastly I thought of signing Eeli Tolvanen for the 3rd line spot or leaving it open for internal competition out of camp The lineup helps the kids get meaningful roles while adding a young forward in McTavish to help for now and the future #NHLBruins

@EdRae11 @MickColageo I doubt it would happen at this point sinceI think he’ll he traded, but Poitras and Pasta had great chemistry last yr in their ltd time together. Their 5x5 metrics were amazing if I remember per Dom. 51 set Pasta up for 2 goals in Rangers gm last Feb and beat Adam Fox to do it.

@MickColageo Agree 100%. I’d even go so far as to try him at 1C with Pasta. Zacha at 2C and Minten at 3C seemed to work fairly well. And I think Poitras did ok with Pasta - albeit in a small sample size. If it doesn’t work, Poitras can always be moved back down the lineup.

I wouldn't write off Matt Poitras for the 2026-27 #NHLBruins . Not only is he the playmaking center they sorely need, but he's improved his overall game immensely... backchecking, absorbing contact, etc. Shame he doesn't get a longer playoff season with the @AHLBruins.

@Jessemedscience Most of their roster is unsigned going into next season as RFA's, so I do wonder how many of them will try to find a way to move on and go to another team that will give them a legitimate opportunity. Expecting lots of turnover except Patrick Brown who will remain as captain.

I’ve been getting crap the last 3 years about my take on the scouting and development program throughout the Bruins organization… I wake up today seeing most of you (including the media) are now jumping on the train after Providence’s embarrassing loss to Springfield last night — welcome aboard. I’m just so over the whole “kid has to earn it” narrative, being leveraged as the easy excuse to not knowing how to develop….(it’s always the kid’s fault) How about putting the kid in position to do so? And when he’s making strides, give him a taste of the NHL to keep that fire going, keep the momentum…build that confidence that’s going to take the player to the next level (whatever ceiling that may be) Boston seems to put these 18, 19, and 20 year old kids through a military-like selection process. It’s ok to demand excellence but stop with the doom and gloom scenarios for every mistake they make You’re never (ever) going to eliminate mistakes, you can only ‘suppress’ them — via structured coaching, a good support system, and positive-reinforcement Boston goes for the ‘safe’ picks, the Johnny Beechers, Trent Frederics, and Jakob Laukos of the world (no offense) — Bottom 6 pieces with high-floor potential that are easier to integrate into NHL roles This mentality also flows down stream when acquiring/signing other team’s failed former 1st round picks and turning them into their own reclamation projects…abandoning their own prospects in the process You’re telling me it doesn’t bother a young kid when you’re out there giving opportunities to the outside world? People say it’s ‘competition’ and it should light a fire under them — nope, it’s actually quite deflating for a young prospect when an injury happens and a 33 year old career AHL’er or a former (bust) prospect get the NHL reps over over them…they feel as if they’re being passed over even after putting in the work and making progress People act as if athletes are unbreakable beings — they are as mentally and psychologically vulnerable as you and I The system is broken and their own prospects are starting to take notice… But hey, go spend a billion bucks on Alex Tuch…and sign a handful of bums for “competition” purposes. Then let’s see next spring when Zellers and Letourneau want to make the jump and there’s nowhere to put them #NHLBRUINS #NHL #BRUINS

@TheRealEasyJ @MickColageo Yes! Their 5x5 metrics from then (I think Dom had them) were amazing, but I doubt they give him a shot at 1C despite their chemistry together.

@MickColageo @AHLBruins I would rather see Poitras get a chance as our #1 center than anyone else in the NHL lineup. Minten is a great forechecking center but I don't think he has the offensive touch for Pastranak to utilize. I'm betting on the chemistry i've seen between Poitras and Pasta 2 years ago.

@MickColageo @AHLBruins Bruins have to move one or two of Poitras Zacha Mittlestad this summer. They need to trade for a 1C They have Minten or E.Lindholm as the 2C Then they would use Poitras or Zacha as the 3C

Matthew Poitras through the @AHLBruins first 3 playoff games: 1 Goal 3 Assists 4 Points EV +/- FIVE Drawn Penalties Has been BY FAR the best player on the ice. The growth in his game has been incredible to watch this season and hoping Sweens is seeing it as well. #NHLBruins

The AHL says the goal was offside. The League takes responsibility for the missed call and has addressed this with the officials as well as Providence coach and management. With blue line cameras in the planning, the AHL will adopt a review process next season.
Darren Dreger@DarrenDreger

Working on an explanation from the AHL this morning. Springfield beat Providence in OT last night on what appears to be an offside play. There is no review system in place for off side challenges by coaches or at the League level. Stay tuned.
