GPT-5.6 Sol is unbelievably good at creating and editing videos. It can do motion design, product demos, and animations like this one I made by simply giving it a screen recording. GPT 5.6 has the best design taste and significantly outperforms Fable, which relies heavily on repetitive design patterns. To help you experiment with video editing on it, we just launched a collection of 100 ready-to-use skills that show what’s possible and help you get started with video editing using GPT-5.6. These skills can create anything from motion graphics launch videos for your product to a 3B1B-style science explainer video. You can also use them to edit existing videos: add captions, generate motion graphics, create voiceovers, redesign visual styles, translate into new languages, and much more. If you want access to the full library, comment “VIDEO SKILLS” and I’ll share it with you. (You'll have to follow me so I can DM you.)

Sol, Terra, and Luna, our GPT‑5.6 family of models, are starting to roll out now in ChatGPT, Codex, and the API.

Imagine in HS playoffs facing a 19 year old "reclassed" 6'3" OF with 84 MPH bat speed wielding a 34/28 USABat concussing your third baseman via a 120 MPH line drive off his coconut. Really great change here.
USA Baseball@USABaseball

@NFHS_Org @USABasePipeline Additionally, USABats at -4, -5 and -6 drop weights will be legal for high school play starting in 2028.

@abarkett17 Seems like there would be a pretty small difference between the effort between those two, no?

@OC____ Max effort swings to achieve high exit velos every day is trending upward if not a way of life Of course, people try to hit home, runs in batting practice for 100 years. Nobody’s arguing that.

Every time I watch MLB hitters take BP, I see the exact opposite of this. Hitters still very much work the middle, the gaps, etc. I honestly don’t see much difference between the BP of the early 2000s and the BP of today.
Andy Barkett@abarkett17

Talked to Manny Ramirez today about taking batting practice. He said today’s BP has become pull-side homers and exit velo. He and David Ortiz worked gap-to-gap. Middle of the field first. The home runs showed up on their own. That isn’t an accident. ⚾️ Habits are important!

Probably not as relevant to Skenes but this is also why it’s still good for high effort throws, just let it eat in a pen for 2-3 to heat check things.

Move slightly different and may not see much of a difference. But if you keep moving slightly different from a slightly different point then all of a sudden it takes a bit of work to change that baseline and get it back.

Can’t say he was really wrong, given his performance until the last few weeks. But slowly taking the foot off the gas a bit means that your mechanics find a ‘new normal’ then that changes your baseline over time.

Can never really rule out an injury but if it’s been over this long of a time my bet would be he bought into the idea that he could still be successful at a lower velo and then did so. But there is always a threshold where performance falls off in a jump.

The biggest difference today is the structured play. When kids are at the park and nobody is around, they play. When a kid doesn’t feel good throwing, he stops. Today every throw is at a structured practice, game, or pitching lesson. Let the kids play and they’ll be healthier.
Coach Beede@CoachBeede

A father told me his ten-year-old throws year-round on three teams. I asked what the rush was. A young arm does not bank innings, it spends them. Rest is not lost development. It is the development. The kids still pitching at eighteen are the ones who sat in the winter at ten.

@KyleUnitas You saying there are good and bad ways to do part practice correct? Depending on how it’s set up/coached etc

Part practice—but part of what? Is the thing being practised genuinely a separable component of a larger task, or is it an underlying ability with many possible applications? And what relationship is being assumed between improving it here and performance elsewhere?

A useful counterexample to the familiar caricature: movement stripped from context, atomized, and stitched back together.

A reminder that bat speed is, to a large extent, a timing metric Early contact or short-swing means that we "stopped short" on the clock. Naturally, the speed won't be there... unless of course the batter TIMED the swing to want to make early contact Be careful out there...
Jorge Arrate@JArrate25

I was interested in how Bat Speed and Swing Length intertwine with each other. Intuitively, it makes sense that a longer swing would result to higher speeds but could a short path and fast swing be the crown jewel. Notable takeways⬇️

Weird stuff going on with Logan Gilbert's four-seam fastball... Season avg: 95.5 mph, 16.9" iVB, 2,112 rpm Last two starts: 96.3 mph, 18.3" iVB, 2,333 rpm 63%(!!) usage in his last two outings too, up from 33%. Spin/velocity + usage trendline below. Weird one! 🤔

A great piece today from @GeoffPontesBA on the Delano Bat craze that's happening this summer in amateur baseball. Is it wood? Is it composite? How much does it cloud a scout's ability to project hitting skill and power? Is it legal? Should it be? baseballamerica.com/stories/delano…
