President @KagutaMuseveni reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to transforming the coffee sector, emphasizing that even smallholder farmers with as little as one acre can contribute significantly to the country’s coffee revolution. Addressing coffee export stakeholders, the President noted that Uganda’s coffee production has grown from about 3 million bags to 9 million bags, with an ambitious target of reaching 12 million and ultimately 20 million bags. He attributed this remarkable progress to sustained farmer mobilization, through the one-acre model, which continues to empower households to transition from subsistence farming to commercial agriculture, increase incomes, and strengthen Uganda’s position as a leading global coffee exporter.

On Tuesday, 15th July 2026, the Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Gen Rtd Salim Saleh convened a strategic meeting with the Uganda Coffee National Taskforce to review progress on the proposed implementation framework aimed at accelerating value addition, commercialization, and indigenous participation across Uganda’s coffee value chain. During the meeting, principals of the implementing organizations were directed to submit their institution-specific proposals aligned with the 2026/27 implementation framework, paving the way for coordinated execution of interventions that will strengthen Uganda’s coffee industry, increase farmer incomes, create jobs, and position the country to capture greater value from its globally acclaimed coffee sector @FrankTumwebazek

Uganda’s coffee sector continues to power the country’s economy, with exports reaching a record 8.6 million 60kg bags worth US$2.3 billion (UGX 8.3 trillion) in the 12 months to May 2026, a 16% increase in export volume and an 11% rise in value compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth reflects the impact of sustained investments in coffee production, the resilience of our farmers, and the @GovUganda ’s commitment to transforming agriculture into a commercial enterprise. As Uganda advances towards its coffee production targets, the sector remains a key driver of household incomes, employment, foreign exchange earnings, and national economic transformation.

Yesterday, our Director of Operations @DamalieOwori represented the organization in a harmonization meeting with the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (@ufzepa ) and the @mtic_uganda to advance the commercialization and export of shea butter and honey. The meeting focused on aligning institutional efforts, developing an implementation roadmap, and positioning OWC to champion value addition, standardization, and export promotion of these high-value commodities as part of Uganda’s broader socio-economic transformation agenda.

Uganda’s coffee industry continues to make history, with coffee exports now surpassing Ethiopia’s. This milestone reflects the impact of H.E. By promoting strategic enterprises including coffee, maize, beans, cassava, bananas, dairy, tea, cocoa and fruits, OWC has strengthened national food security, increased household incomes (now only 16% are under subsistence ) and supplied the raw materials needed to drive Uganda's agro-industrialisation. Uganda is now Africa's leading coffee exporter by volume, exporting approximately 8.7 million bags valued at about US$2.4 billion in the year to November 2025, a testament to the long-term investment in the coffee value chain. Together with initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (@PDMSecretariat ), OWC has helped deepen the monetisation of the economy by supporting commercial agriculture, value addition, agro-processing, industrialisation and stronger market linkages.

His journey proves that agriculture is not a last resort but a pathway to wealth creation, job creation, and community transformation when driven by determination, innovation and hard work .

Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho (Salim Saleh) has launched the Land Management Centre in Matugga, @WakisoDLG , a landmark initiative aimed at improving access to credible land information, promoting negotiated settlement of land disputes, and strengthening transparency in land administration. The centre will serve as a national repository of land data, supporting citizens, investors, researchers, and government institutions with reliable records to reduce conflicts, curb fraud, and guide informed decision-making. The initiative has been widely welcomed by leaders, including the Minister of @ministry_lands, Hon. @JudithNabakoob1, Minister of @MoLGUganda, @BalaamBarugahar , and other stakeholders, who described it as a timely contribution towards securing land rights, improving governance, and supporting Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.

From a modest beginning of just 30 members in 2021, Lugazi Boda Boda Emyooga SACCO has grown into one of the programme’s remarkable success stories. Today, it brings together over 1,450 members across 82 associations, with savings exceeding UGX 320 million and more than UGX 430 million in loans supporting business growth and household incomes. Chairperson Gitta Joseph says the SACCO has become a lifeline for members, enabling them to start enterprises, create jobs and build wealth.
