Turkey was warned repeatedly for months by Congress that aquiring S-400 would kill their chance at F-35 and the legislation passed shows that is the reason. The planes they paid for are still sitting in storage waiting for them to get rid of S-400.

Where does the UK defence budget go? We have a budget of £62.2 billion, which yields: an army of about 75,000 an air force of 30,000/670 aeroplanes a navy of about 35,000/about 24 ships (of which several are laid up). Genuinely, where does the money go?!

@Lucius_Winslow You need only look across the channel to see that the maths does not work. The French do so much more with less, and do almost everything themselves to boot. We used to be able to do that, but not anymore. The MoD and gov are rotten to the core

I was in Rome once with my kids, and it was 42 degrees Celsius outside. We arrived in Rome late by air conditioned car and slept in a hotel with air conditioning. Then we woke up next morning and decided to walk to the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. The walk was about 25 minutes. By the time we got there, we were entirely exhausted. We started to look for shadows, found one, and sat there, but a police car with a speaker told us and other people dying of heat not to sit on a historical artifact. It was physically difficult to breathe; the sun felt like it was everywhere, including inside your head and lungs. So, we returned to the hotel half dead and spent most of the day there, until about 8 p.m., and then we walked again. Returning to the cool hotel and taking a cold shower was one of our happiest memories of this trip. Not having air conditioning at home and not being able to install one is a death sentence for many. Bureaucrats and politicians that forbid this to citizens are murderers.
