We faced very difficult circumstances in October as the furlough scheme was due to end. When the scheme was extended, the company refused to reinstate staff who had left the company when their only other option was unpaid leave. Loyal staff are struggling financially as a result.

Cineworld has vacancies across the UK for Starbucks Supervisors. Many supervisors accepted redundancy in October when their only option was redundancy or unpaid leave - an extremely difficult decision to make. These staff members should be reinstated.

The theatre industry is struggling and more and more it seems like they’re willing to do anything except listen to their staff.

The circumstances which people made these decisions under are completely different now therefore anyone who took redundancy should be given the option to change their mind in light of the latest furlough extension. This is no way to treat loyal staff members.

The news received this morning also applies to anyone who had accepted redundancy as opposed to unpaid leave. People were given just a few days to make huge decisions as they faced the potential of no income at all. Decisions to accept redundancy were made with this in mind.

with the confirmation that furlough is being extended until March and that staff can be reinstated to be placed on the scheme, it is particularly callous that Cineworld is refusing to support these workers. (2/2)

We’ve found out this morning that Cineworld is refusing to reinstate anyone who resigned last month following the decision to place us on unpaid leave. People who resigned did so in last ditch attempts to secure holiday pay as we faced an indefinite period of no income (1/2)

With the announcement that furlough has been extended in light of the English lockdown, we call on @cineworld to do the right thing and place us back on the job retention scheme, with pay backdated to 16th October when the company placed the majority of us on unpaid leave.

It has honestly been hard this past month, to wait on a political outcome that will determine our ability to simply survive. We are now out of time, it is not just cinema workers who will need your support. It is workers everywhere.

Please, we urge you, write to @ODEONCinemas asking them to not abandon their workers at this time. Write to your local MP and ask them to support measures that secure the lives of workers (and especially precarious workers) in their constituencies.

For much of the past month, workers at @ODEONCinemas have been waiting to hear any news at all from our employer about how they plan to support us following the end of the UK government's furlough scheme.
