30 years ago to the day Michael Loconto won the very first PT against Bertrand Lestrée in the final. Fittingly we just deployed a nice "little" update to gatheringstats.com You can now filter player rankings by season and of course we added a bunch of recent tournaments.

@_SeanGoddard_ Many non-lethal Bolts have been cast on Tarmogoyf, but by asking about the interaction beforehand you clearly demonstrated awareness of what's going on. Why wouldn't you get a helpful answer here? Also, it's probably (mainly) not your card that creates this difficulty.

I'm astounded by this take. There's a huge range of rules questions you can and should ask judges at Comp REL, and use the answers to inform your plays. I keep my rules knowledge pretty sharp, but I'll still ask about an interaction sometimes even if I'm 95% sure about it.

@0napaleh0rse @JohnRuml @HanweirGarrison Whether they know it or not is immaterial. At comp REL you shouldn’t be able to ask someone how your cards work without committing to a play. Thats getting outside assistance to compensate for your poor understanding of the game.

@CavernOnHumans Only if you tell me which country they are from. Wizards used to add a country code to their name, but they stopped doing that about 5 yrs ago. I'd rather not add anything than guess, but I'll add anything that someone tells me.

@jenara19 It depends. The irl ones I count as Pro Tours, the Arena ones not. Structurally the irl ones were very close to actual Pro Tours, but the Arenas were very different despite the shared name, so I decided they were not Pro Tours after all.

@SaffronOlive Back then you knew there were about 300 cards and you had to learn about them bit by bit. Nowadays you could know all the cards in theory, but there are just way too many for any "normal" person to absorb them all. Not judging, but that seems fundamentally different to me.

I think it's true that Garfield's original vision was that players wouldn't know everything, his original vision was also cards wouldn't cost more than $20 and players would spend like $40 total on the game and I never hear WOTC talking about that, so... youtube.com/watch?v=3gtqv5…

One small thing, I can understand that they wanted to check, if somebody with a large amount of tix got them legitimately. There was at least one incident of a player trying to steal tix.

@Psyclingfella @AllyAgainstHate @cducsubt Ohne CDU-fanboy zu sein, die Grafik würde ich erstmal so lesen, dass die Insolvenzen in der merkel Zeit kontinuierlich zurückgegangen sind und jetzt wieder steigen, wobei diskutabel ist wie viel die kurze Ampel-Zeit da wirklich kausal ist.
