And if they declare those students are employees millions of fans, including me will be done with college sports. Moreover, there’s always been money under the table in college sports. Fortunately the great majority of fans refused to participate in cheating. But now we’ve had several years of encouragement to fans to help buy players. This from university presidents, AD’s, coaches, and even judges. So how would a salary cap be enforced when millions of people who refused forever to pay players have been doing just the opposite? Does anyone think they’ll just flip a switch and stop paying?

@AriWasserman Thank you for posting the pro Lane propaganda. It is definitely not because he’s a grade an asshole and has burned every bridge he’s crossed throughout his career.

I'm not saying he should have stayed through the CFP or that it was even a reasonable request. What I'm saying is that it wasn't his preference to leave his team right before the CFP, even if he ultimately had to.

Everyone gets mad at Lane Kiffin for leaving, and I understand the resentment. But part of the reason it turned into a major circus was that the man wanted to stay through the CFP run.

Good column. Saban has a blind spot for this. He capitalized on a system where Alabama had all kinds of baked in advantages over the competition. Now, he did so in an unprecedented way and Bama wasn't the only school that had those advantages. He was best at optimizing them.
