After the shooting, Orem PD said they were "not involved." UVU pays Orem PD annually for a joint Public Order Unit designed for exactly this type of event. It was never activated. The Run-Hide-Fight emergency alert sent to campus 88 minutes after the shooting still had placeholder text in it. It literally read: "Shooter in [INSERT location]." They forgot to type in where the shooter was. The first alert 19 minutes after the shooting falsely stated "suspect in custody." The suspect was not in custody. 10,000 students stayed on campus thinking it was safe. Faculty had never been trained on active shooter protocols. No ambulance was on site. No outside law enforcement was coordinated. 6 campus cops for a crowd the chief later called 3,000. UVU has acknowledged that additional documents exist and has refused to release them. Every name in the September 9 communications is redacted under Utah state law exemptions for "security of public property" and "privacy." The suspect has been in custody for 7 months. This affidavit is dated: September 17, 2025 @ 4:10 PM That’s about 28 hours AFTER the public got its first glimpse at the now infamous “my love” text exchange detailed in the initial September 16 charging documents. I found the format of the search warrant affidavit jumbled so I decided to recreate it in more reader friendly way so that we can compare this new release with what we’ve already been given. I copy and pasted directly from the court documents, in the exact order these text conversations are laid out in the search warrant affidavit. I included page number and paragraph for reference above each new break in the affidavit. (You’ll quickly understand why I’m telling you this since the conversations are clearly not in chronological order of occurrence. This was the doing of the Utah State police, not me.)
