Another feather in the cap for Prof. Bushra Ateeq, Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering and the Dean of International Relations, as she is elected as a Fellow (2024) of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), India. NAMS, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, is a highly prestigious institution which fosters and utilizes academic excellence as its resource to meet medical and social goals, also acting as an advisory body to the Government of India in matters related to National Health Policy and Planning. Prof. Ateeq, a Joy-Gill Chair and Senior Fellow at the DBT-Wellcome Trust India Alliance, has been a driving force in cancer research. Her work involves exploring the molecular events that drive cancer and facilitate the process of acquiring resistance towards chemotherapeutic drugs.
