Today in 2018 the first four Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets live dates, and the band itself, were announced. What did you think when you heard the news, and have you seen the band on tour, or seen/heard them via the live video/audio releases?

@retro_swarm So it could be a very nice NT4 retro machine. (There was even a Windows 2000 release candidate for DEC Alpha.) It's amazing how fast even x86 software can run on it with FX!32.

@retro_swarm SRM might be flashable. The empty PLCC socket might be for that purpose. However, this is no longer practical since the OpenVMS community license program is no longer available.

💾Let's look at something unusual again... 💾 This is a system board from a DEC Personal Workstation 433a with a 433-MHz Alpha AXP CPU (top-left corner). This is a system from the 1996 and was quite expensive. Next to the CPU, you can see the cache module and 8 RAM slots...🧵1/5

Dire Straits fans — quick one. Which guitar was actually used in the ‘Sultans of Swing’ solo? 🎸 Saw this brilliant miniature collection on IG — see if you can spot the right model. instagram.com/p/DRfFhPFCNGn/…

@MuseumCommodore Well, 8-bit sound of a 7 year old chip. A contemporary Sound Blaster 16 (with some CPU support) could already deliver a better sound.

The Commodore Amiga 1200, had four-channel stereo sound that made AdLib and Sound Blaster sound like kazoos in a tin can. It wasn’t until the Gravis UltraSound and especially 16-bit cards like the Sound Blaster AWE32 (1994+) or high-end WaveTable cards that PCs finally caught up and surpassed the Amiga’s out-of-the-box audio capabilities.

@HackForumsNet @sysxplore Absolutely agree. I really like Linux, but the attitude of some Linux fans that this system is inherently secure is dangerous.

@sysxplore There are plenty of exploits for Linux distros that gain root access and backdoor systems. It's a myth that they don't have viruses. Most viruses written for Windows but that doesn't make Linux systems safe.

@os_amiga A500, A500+, A1000, A2000, A600, and CDTV are virtually identical (apart from the form factor and a few minor graphics improvements). As a result, software developers ignored the improvements made to the A1200 and A3/4000. The Amiga was great in the 80s, but outdated in the 90s.

@sysxplore Linux SLS (Soft Landing System) 1.04 on a 50MHz 486DX in 1993. It was a rather hard landing, but I was so happy to have a Unix on my own PC. I remember I had to calculate the mode lines to get X running on my cheap 14" monitor by hand - interlaced!

@rocknrollgarag1 The title track gets any party going. No, not really, but I love it and listen to it often. “Summer '68” is also great, but I prefer to listen to “Fat Old Sun” in Gilmour's live versions (especially in Gdańsk).

@crockpics Although I was always on Gilmour's side, I appreciated Rogers' lyrics. It's a tragedy that he became an anti-Semitic ‘Pink’. I still hope he can still 'tear down his wall'.
