Good morning Uganda! Good morning World! Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert @HEBobiwine is the legitimate President of the Republic of Uganda

This coming week, I will be engaging the students and faculty of Harvard and Howard Universities. We shall have conversations about the struggle for democracy in Uganda, and the future of the African continent generally. On Monday, 27th April, I will be at the Harvard University Center for African Studies in Cambridge, MA. On Tuesday, 28th April, I will be hosted by the African Studies Graduate Students Association (ASGSA) at Howard University University. These engagements are part of our broader effort to strengthen solidarity and sharpen the ideas that will define Uganda and Africa’s democratic path.

Today, we celebrate a life that has refused to bow to dictatorship. A man who chose conviction over comfort. That he sits, languishing in jail on his 70th birthday, is yet another reminder of how much he has had to sacrifice for the sake of our country and its people. Sending out revolutionary birthday greetings to Dr. Kizza Besigye Kifefe. May his sacrifice never go in vain. May he live long enough to see the kind of Uganda he has wholeheartedly fought for.

Honored to have been recognised as a Leader in Courage and Innovation (2026) by the @Renew_Democracy in New York City last night. I dedicate this award to the Ugandan men and women who have been killed, unfairly detained, or disappeared in our collective pursuit for a better Uganda. Their sacrifices shall certainly pray off. I applaud my fellow Honorees: @AmbJohnBolton (US National Security Advisor 2018-19 and US Ambassador to the UN 2005-06); Ms. @cafreeland (Economic Advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Deputy Prime
Minister of Canada 2020-24); and @SenMarkKelly (US Senator for Arizona and NASA Astronaut 1996-2011) for their contribution to democratic causes. Thank you, RDI! Uganda shall be free!

Sometimes you have to pause and celebrate those who give their all in the pursuit of democracy. Tonight is one such night. As a @Renew_Democracy Fellow, I am filled with joy to witness the courage and sacrifice of many in defending freedoms; in believing even and especially when times are tough. Never tire of believing, of trying, of pushing for freedoms and for a better future. Glad to see a friend, @HEBobiwine, being recognized for his sacrifices, courage, and belief in a better future for our generations and our country.

Fellow Ugandans, It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our dear sister and comrade, Edith Katende Mufumbiro, the wife of our Deputy Spokesperson, Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro. Edith passed on after 3:00am today following a hard-fought battle with cancer. At the time of her passing, her dear husband Waiswa remains detained at Luzira Upper Prison for no crime whatsoever. His only crime is speaking out against injustice and misrule. The criminal regime placed on him and others the sham charge of "Unlawful Drilling" which apparently took place on 12th February 2025 at our Party Headquarters. In fact, on that day, Waiswa never stepped there as he was at Mulago Cancer Institute with the wife! The judiciary, fully aware of these facts, has chosen to conspire in this persecution. Waiswa, alongside other comrades, has applied for bail severally. He has variously made an impassioned plea to the Court to be released on bail so that he takes care of his sick wife, but it has been denied. The injustice! As difficult as it is, we remain hopeful that we shall overcome some day. May God grant the family, especially our brother Waiswa, the strength he needs at this time.

Grateful to the thousands of comrades across the political divide who have attended the burial of Mrs. Edith Mufumbiro, wife to comrade Waiswa Mufumbiro Alex, this afternoon in Luuka District. While the regime rendered comrade Waiswa unable to lay his wife to rest by denying him bail yesterday, it is heartening that the rest of you comrades showed up to stand in solidarity with his and the late Edith's families in this trying moment. I have addressed the mourners virtually and expressed my condolences. May Edith's soul rest in perfect peace.

Despite the ongoing unjustified manhunt by the criminal regime, I am grateful to the common people who I meet daily for trying to shield me and keep me safe. Yesterday as I travelled to Gomba District to pay a visit to our home and check on my relatives, I passed by many roadblocks mounted on different roads. The inconvenience on road users is terrible. I advise the regime to stop looking for me - I will resurface at an appropriate time. The best they would do is to peacefully relinquish power and let the people of Uganda decide their own destiny. Short of that, they will face the inevitable fate of all despots before them. #FreeUgandaNow

Dear Balaam, Please understand this very clearly that Kyagulanyi did not stand to look for a job, food, or survival. He is far better off than you and your clique who survive on handouts, brown envelopes, and praising power. Kyagulanyi chose to stand because millions of Ugandans are oppressed, silenced, brutalized, and robbed of dignity, and unlike you, he still has a conscience. Mocking him to ask Museveni for a job only exposes how small your political imagination is. To you, leadership is employment. To Kyagulanyi, leadership is service and sacrifice. That difference alone disqualifies you from even mentioning his name. For your own information, Kyagulanyi represents the ideas, pain, and aspirations of the many youth who are locked out of opportunities, Citizens who are beaten for demanding their rights, voters whose will is stolen at gunpoint and a country tired of recycled lies and sponsored praise singers. You Balaam, stand for nothing except proximity to power. He Kyagulanyi, stands for principles, even when it costs him freedom, safety, and comfort. History will remember him as one who spoke when silence was safer. You, Balaam, will be remembered as one who laughed while injustice thrived. And that is the difference between a leader and a political errand boy.

Bobi Wine's party says he's been forcibly removed from his home and taken by a helicopter to an unknown location. Internet access has been cut making it difficult to verify this claim. The local police told the BBC they were not aware of the incident. bbc.in/4jNaEYD
