@WhiteHouse Didn't pay. Taxation without representation is theft.
English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Yep, AirBnb brought a new level of hell in trying to buy an affordable home.
And hedge funds/corps. must be limited to a small percentage of affordable homes in an area. Or only permitted to buy the most expensive homes, leaving us enough inventory of affordable ones.
English

In NYC you wouldn't be talking houses. They're apartments or units in multifamily buildings. If something is ridiculously huge, it can be made into two or three units. I know it's a complicated subject and I'm just spitballing but its a subject I've thought a lot about. I would ban all Airbnb and other properties like that. Limit rental property to one building per owner, regardless if its ten or 100 units. That would cut out private equity firms from buying up massive amounts of housing stock and drive down prices.

@glareone @GovKathyHochul They have a $40,000 property tax exemption. They can handle it.
English

@GovKathyHochul These people are paying property taxes on their properties just like everyone else, whether through common charges or other fees, which ultimately trickle down to NYC municipalities.
English

@digitaldink @GovKathyHochul It's literally just half a percent, .5%, on the value over $5 million.
Cry harder.
English

@GovKathyHochul Deaf ears. That’s who you are talking to. Your strategy of trying to guilt people into paying more is just simply a reflection of your failed policies.
I look forward to watching this dumb experiment blow up in your face.
English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Yeah. But it helps them buy these additional homes.
At least the home tax is for non-residents. It's only on the amount over the $5 million value- yet they're still crying.
Looking forward to how it turns out. Time for change for sure.
English

@OneDay_FreeLuv @NYCMayor That's another issue (income tax). I'm just talking housing stock.
English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor "park cash"? what does this mean? if you have money, you can't buy things? it is considered 'parking cash' and that is bad?
English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Except when A gets out of paying taxes through loopholes. This is the problem.

English

@OneDay_FreeLuv @NYCMayor Sure but that doesn't address the shortage of living space in a city like NY. I'm also not crazy about taxes or taking from person A to give to person B (socialism/communism).
English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Very true, but property taxes, maintenance & utilities on those huge homes...we can't even afford that.
English

@OneDay_FreeLuv @NYCMayor BTW, what impacts prices the most? Supply and demand. When you outlaw non residents owning housing stock, you increase the supply and drive down prices.
English

@GovKathyHochul There is a better way to raise revenue: a time-limited microtax on goods made or services provided in NYS. Look at my policy from the Mayoral campaign. It will have no affect on commerce or working class New Yorkers. And, if done right, it could solve problems.
English

If you can afford a multi-million dollar second home in New York City, you can afford to join its residents in supporting the greatest city in the world.

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Woah baby steps lol. jk.
Or instead of taxing non-residents 2nd homes over $5 million, lower the threshold to $2.5 million.
English

Maybe but there will always be those who "have not" in an expensive city like NY. I would take it further and outlaw anything that isn't full time owner occupied. There's only so much real estate to go around and it should be reserved for those who live there. That does interfere with anyone's right to own private property. It simply says if you buy here you must live here. That would free up property and help drive down prices.

@GovRonDeSantis Fix this Ron!
Florida is now the 2nd most financially distressed state in the US. Our high COL & notoriously low wages are wrecking us.
Financial distress is defined as having credit in forbearance or deferring payments due to financial difficulty.

As America marks its 250th anniversary, Florida continues to honor influential figures who shaped our nation’s history and civic tradition. Today, I unveiled a statue honoring President Calvin Coolidge, who dedicated Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales in one of his last public appearances as President.
Coolidge governed as a constitutionalist, eliminated debt, balanced the budget, reduced taxes, and promoted a unified American civic tradition and culture.

English

@dAlto04646689 @NYCMayor Exactly.
And taxing the 2nd home of the rich isn't a left vs right issue (distraction).
It's a haves vs the have-nots issue.
English

@NYCMayor All the poors & middles on here fighting for the rich...who already pay a lower percentage in taxes than them.

English

@HHSLinks @JohnCornyn Let's see how you vote today on the Israel bill.
English

Senator @johncornyn (R-TX) joined Hugh today to talk about his runoff race in Texas. Cornyn won round one but has to close the deal in the runoff in May. The hard truth is he that Senator Cronyn beats the Democrat Talarico easily in November but Talarico can beat Ken Paxton. Texas Republicans can put the Senate majority at risk if they vote Paxton. Hopefully the GOP turns out in great numbers and renominates John Cornyn.

@LeaderJohnThune That's a lie Thune. We know exactly what the bill is. Either fix it or dump it.
