@TalkingPicsTV It's a real shame that of all the wiped episodes, the final of the first series was one of them. I watched that at the time and I remember the unexpected shock ending.

In 1946 Sir Winston Churchill travelled to the United States to warn that "an iron curtain has descended across the Continent." He was a statesman who, having defeated one tyrant, understood the threat posed by another. In 2025 Donal Trump is helping Russia to once again lower that curtain. He is a real estate salesman who thinks appeasing tyrants will make them like him.

Gareth Thomas: “There is an atmosphere [at Avebury]. Not spooky, but you are very much aware of the fact that you are sitting in the middle of something that is 4,000 years old, and we still don’t really know why and how.” (Children of the Stones).

Thank you to everyone who watched and enjoyed Solar System on @BBCTwo - and thank you also to @BBCTwo for putting science on TV :-) I’m told only Coronation Street beat us in the first week - so I’m pitching Quantum Electrodynamics at The Rovers Return as my next show in a bid for the number 1 spot.
BBC Press Office@bbcpress

📢 Solar System received an average of 4.2m viewers in its first episode, making it the biggest factual programme on @BBCTwo for two years…we’re over the moon! Join @ProfBrianCox on an epic journey through our solar system on @BBCiPlayer Watch▶️ bbc.in/3V9rqpM

Diana Rigg: "Of course Emma Peel was a fantasy figure, but that didn't prevent her from inspiring women both intellectually and physically. She was a source of liberation for female viewers. How do I know? Because they used to write to me, even decades later. She left her mark."

@RodneyMarshall1 Look what can be achieved with (I assume) a small budget, 1 actor, a car and a truck. A brilliant film and a favourite.

1971. Duel. Twilight Zone writer Richard Matheson adapts his own short story into a script, partly based on a nightmarish experience he had in the real world, rather than the fifth dimension. Young director Steven Spielberg, fresh from Columbo, turns it into a sublime TV movie.

@RodneyMarshall1 This is my No1. From the very start with the "type-writery" soundtrack and unusual camera angles, this was something different to what we had seen before with crime drama.

1970s Classic Columbo. A Top Ten. No 2. Murder by the Book. Bochco + Spielberg; Falk + Cassidy. Ken Franklin may know how to market murder, but Columbo chases him from the city to the lakes & back to the city before throwing the literal book at him. What a way to open Season 1!

1970s Classic Columbo. A Top Ten. No 10. An Exercise in Fatality. The Lieutenant takes on health and fitness fanatic Milo Janus (Robert Conrad). Janus can outrun the detective on a beach, but carrot juice and vitamin pills won't prevent Milo from being tied up in knots.
