@AndrewMorcheles Not in the way I think you mean it. I mean that you are generating lots of energy metabolically. That will require a lot of eating and allow a lot of movement, but can't necessarily be caused to happen by eating and exercising.

@sudas1891 @Will_of_Europa @BerbarianWizard @sudas1891, I don’t know what metabolic context your two 1500-cal quotes above refer to. If it was a very low insulin:glucagon context and still with body fat reserves to burn, that apparently-low caloric intake might (might) be doable safely for a while?

@KetoCarnivore @cambridge_pt @sallyterra Amber, Unlike with a grate, with the flat tray insert, the rendered fat cannot drip down. Doesn’t the accumulation of liquid fat around the burger during searing ruin the sear? It kind of ruins it for me. But so also don’t like the grate bc burgers stick bad to it.

@Only1MoreThing @DaleWil39870290 @cambridge_pt @sallyterra I use a Ninja Foodi that has a grate, but I also bought a flat insert for it that I use for things that might stick a lot (burgers or wings), give off a lot of grease (bacon or chicken thighs), or be runny (eggs).

Provisional air-drying setup in the new-to-me fridge. (Salt block may or may not help with humidity.) Air drying steaks and burgers for 2-3 days improves the sear by drying the outside so that when you cook, it gets crispy while the inside can stay juicy and rare. Bonus if you recognise what's in the crisper below. :)

@KetoCarnivore I also air-dry my ground beef in the fridge for 3 days :) Meat that's not dried is barely edible, lol. Have to steam off the water for 15 minutes :(

At what temp do you grill it & how long do you sear each side? I’ll end up finding my own parameters, but yours’ll help me get started. Thank you.

@sallyterra @DaleWil39870290 Just to follow up, here is what happened to the burgers in there the longest (3 days). Lots of juices came off it. So I'm going to reiterate that I think this doesn't dry out the centre. (It had been awhile since doing this, so I wanted to be sure.)
