Today is my birthday. It’s the first I’ve ever spent on my own, and the the third without my beautiful boy being here. I’m ok. Or as ok as I think I could be. I suppose. It feels kind of appropriate to have a day of enforced quiet and reflection. I have read (lots) and tuned in to @sianwilliams100 for her calm mindfulness programme on R3 this morning. It was a soothing tonic to accompany my birthday croissant and coffee. My boys are back in Somerset. Countdown to a-levels. I haven’t seen Charlie for almost two weeks; but I’m home on Wednesday (as Dave tag teams up here in London), and can’t wait to see him. It’s hard to ever feel grateful these days. Life has served us such a cruel hand. But I am grateful to (& for) Dave and to Charlie. For my friends who have supported throughout (and to Michelle and Annabel who came all the way up on Saturday for a speedy 36 hours early birthday with me) and Abi today, for the gorgeous flowers I’ve just received. I’ve popped a pic in below. I have my doggies with me. Another pic below!! They might be elderly, and a little bit needy (!) but they have gotten me through some of the worst days by just being them, and needing me, despite my tears and grief. So the fight resumes tomorrow. And I am resolute and determined to see it through to the very bitter end. Happy Bank Holiday everyone. 💛💚

@andrewwoodroffe I agree it would just feel watered down. I don’t think separating the elite women and men on different days is a good idea either

For what it’s worth on #londonmarathon I don’t think it should be a two day event! I ran yesterday and being on the same course and moment as a sub 2 is pretty special That’s the beauty from 1:59-5+ hours we are all on the same course conditions and day It’s why it’s unique!

Yesterday I called out how a lot of men talk to women on here. Today I’m going a step further. This is not about “a few bad apples.” This is a pattern. It shows up in the comments, the replies, the DMs. The dismissiveness, the constant need to correct, the sexual comments where they don’t belong. It’s exhausting to watch, and even worse to be on the receiving end of. And before anyone jumps in with “not all men,” sure. But it’s enough men that every woman knows exactly what I’m talking about. That should tell you something. Respect is not complicated. If you wouldn’t say it to someone face to face, don’t say it here. If a woman posts something that has nothing to do with sex, keep it that way. If you feel the urge to talk down to her, maybe ask yourself why. Men love to talk about loneliness, dating struggles, feeling ignored. Then turn around and act in ways that guarantee exactly that outcome. At some point, accountability has to kick in. Treat women like actual people, or don’t be surprised when they stop engaging altogether. It really is that simple.

She had passed away from cancer in 2003. He never changed phone companies. Every time a new provider offered him a better deal, he asked the same question: if I switch, will her voice be kept? The answer was always no. So he stayed. Then in December 2014, Virgin Media, his telephone provider, deleted the message during routine technical work. Stan Beaton described the moment he found out as one of the worst of his life. "I just could not tell people how it affected me," he told BBC Radio Leeds. "It really did devastate me." He contacted Virgin Media and told them what had happened. The executive director of engineering later described the task of finding it as searching for a needle in a haystack. @Jamesmolesruns Athletics clubs provide the volunteers that keep the LM running but I doubt they will get more places. I also doubt that the 500 cap on British champs will be raised/GFA places increased. LM stopped being a ‘runners’ event years ago.Its just about being the biggest charity event

Think the detail here is important. AW saying male and female elite races on different days. Good to understand how the elite women feel. And whether champs/GFA will double up across both days too. And will athletics clubs get double places...?

@andrewwoodroffe London is run due largely to volunteers esp athletic club volunteers . I wonder if they would be able to source enough volunteers for 2 days esp due to the the reduction in incentives in recent years for run clubs by reducing club allocated places for baggage handling etc
