Statement on behalf of UEFA and its 55 National Associations

The UEFA European footballing nations unanimously supporting a boycott of the next World Cup if Gianni Infantino's plans for FIFA to sell off the tournament deserve huge credit. Hopefully it spells the end for Infantino's plain sight attempt to enrich himself and the end of his presidency. 🔽

Hey @British_Airways — I sent an important email to bapriorityteam@ba.com over 24 hours ago after you bumped me from my JFK to Heathrow flight yesterday, without even telling me. I only discovered when I tried to check in yesterday morning. Still no response to my email. So much for ‘priority’. Despite the obvious fact we clearly have different definitions of ‘priority’, do you think someone at BA might give it some attention? I’m only a humble former GL member, with gold status for life and I had paid top dollar for my first class seat, so I understand I might not count as much of a priority for the ‘new’ BA these days.

I have reported Aamer Anwar to Police Scotland for the speech he gave on Saturday 25th July 2026 in Glasgow Green. His comments go beyond robust political debate and, I believe, have the effect of encouraging hostility towards a section of Scots based on their political views, nationality, ethnicity and cultural identity. In particular, it is abhorrent that he found it acceptable to describe political campaigners as “terrorists” and to make comments on questioning their culture and religion. His words, I have no doubt, will contribute to increased hostility and community tensions and I hope Police Scotland investigate the matter fully.
