@RollPlayersWin @Lyroschen @ForestedDepth I have slavers in my OD&D games, my players hunt them down and kill them, when they come across them. You could always have some "reformed" Vikings. It is like they say about smoking, no one hates smoking like an ex-smoker.

I think the reason that no one has made a good vikings game (despite massive interest, clear interoperability with the OSR style, etc) is because it requires your PCs to be slavers.

@Nerdcognito Need more context, but if a PC doesn't fit the setting then the DM did a piss poor job laying out what the game would entail. If we're doing a high seas game and someone wants to focus on a heavily armored knight on horseback, let them, but they're probably not gonna live long.

@ForestedDepth 5e is about as bland as dry white toast, but advantage is a great mechanic.

@OrkFromMork @ArchlichEternal They’ve been shitting on Lovecraft for years, the heck are you talking about? Virtually every modern adaptation of his works or ideas has a disclaimer about “the author’s views”. They made an entire Black novel/show with his monsters just to spite his legacy FFS.

“Gygax was a bad guy” No. He was human. He was a father, a husband, a writer, a gamer, a businessman, and a bunch of other things. He had his foibles, as do we all. Most of his ideas were good, some not. Some were works of revolutionary genius, some not. Let’s not tear down…

@bluddwolf @AaronThePedant Yes, LE has so much more going for it than the other evils. Demons invading the material plane is going to be terrible and surely lots of people will perish, but Devils invading the material plane calls for new alliances to be formed for the salvation of all life.

@OrkFromMork 2nd was more story then atmosphere. Felt less like freely exploring and more being told where to go with little evolution as most loot exists everywhere Biggest gripe though is is buggy as all hells. I've never done a single playthough without needing unstuck cheats
