Shot a local Saturday winning by 9% but I revealed to myself a lot of inconsistencies I have been having for a while that is hurting performance a bit and taking away from my potential. I knew I could have won by 20% but the mistakes I’ve been making are hurting my score. Going back to the core fundamentals for a couple weeks in live fire to fix them and come back to the next major match even stronger

So this happened this morning. The screws holding my Holosun 507 COMP on my Springfield Armory Echelon sheared off and sent the optic flying right into my hat cam. Unfortunately, it wasn’t recording. This is the first issue I’ve had like this with any of my Echelons. This one has the most rounds on it since I’ve been training and competing with it since mid last year. I mounted the optic around November using blue Loctite and torqued the screws to about 15 in-lbs. I didn’t shoot much in December and January due to an injury, but since then I’ve put roughly 2,000 rounds through it. Mostly 124gr and 147gr. I’m not an engineer so maybe someone smarter than me can tell me what the failure point was? Obviously, the screws sheered but wouldn’t that say they were taking the brunt of the recoil instead of the recoil lugs?

ALL GLORY TO GOD! MAJOR MATCH RESULTS TIME!! It is with extreme joy that I get to report a 3rd place finish in Open division and 4th overall at the South Carolina State Championship!!!! As well as being the highest placing SC resident shooter at the entire match! This match is just barely a year away from my very first match and I could have won it. I let silly little mistakes get the best of me and take away a 50 point lead I had going into the second half of the day. but either way I am extremely happy with this match and how it went. Coming 3% off a world champion in his home division at my first major with this gun is no joke. I cannot thank the people who've helped me get here enough. GM. Consider adding a helmet to your kit, even if you don’t plan on wearing plates, even if it’s just a bump helmet. Protecting your head from normal accidents, like falling branches, can be a big deal. They also serve as a great platform for comms, NV, lighting, and positive ID. Protect thy noggin.

The enemy has plans for using gas. Why aren't chemical irritants in your plan? Do you know how to use them? Are you equipped to use them? Are you comfortable doing everything in that equipment that you can do normally?
