Dr. Kisembo Ronex Tendo: The Ideal Candidate for Uganda’s Seat in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) In a timely alignment with the East African Community’s (EAC) push for deeper integration, Dr. Kisembo Ronex Tendo’s recent appointment as Secretary General of the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) under the African Union strengthens his credentials for EALA. Announced on 16th April 2026 in Nairobi during the Kiswahili Commission, this role highlights his expertise in language policy and cultural unity key drivers of regional cohesion. With nearly two decades dedicated to East African integration, Dr. Tendo has built a formidable track record. As Group CEO of Afrika Mashariki Fest, he has mobilised youth, civil society, and leaders across borders through cultural festivals, Nyerere pilgrimages, and high-level dialogues. His efforts embody the spirit of Article 50(2)(e) of the EAC Treaty, demonstrating proven experience and genuine commitment to regional cooperation. Dr. Tendo’s multilingual abilities further distinguish him. Fluent in English, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, and Luganda (with working knowledge of Lingala), he is ideally positioned to champion the EAC’s adoption of Kiswahili as an official language. His new ACALAN mandate directly supports EAC goals of free movement, trade harmonisation, and people-centred development by advancing linguistic barriers that unite over 300 million citizens. A strong advocate for EALA’s dual mandate effective legislation and robust oversight Dr. Tendo has consistently called for sensitising citizens on the benefits of integration, including wider markets, job creation, and collective global strength. Having previously engaged with EALA leadership and the Secretariat, he brings established relationships and a clear vision: resilient leadership that tackles trade barriers, youth unemployment, and cross-border infrastructure with practical solutions. In an era demanding strategic choices for the EAC, Dr. Tendo offers continuity and bold renewal. His Pan-Africanist outlook and bridge-building skills perfectly align with the Community’s motto: “One People, One Destiny.” His ACALAN appointment is not a detour but a powerful reinforcement of his lifelong dedication to East African unity. Uganda now has the opportunity to send a heavyweight to Arusha. Dr. Kisembo Ronex Tendo experienced, multilingual, visionary, and battle-tested is the ideal choice for EALA. @RonexKisembo #Tendo4EALA One East Africa. One Future.

Here at Entebbe International Airport flying to Bujumbura 🇧🇮 aboard our very own @UG_Airlines Bombardier CRJ900. A carbin crew member has been announcing one passenger to identify himself to the Economy Class Crew to no success. This went on until I advised them to speak in Kiswahili, and he heard!! We can do better by embracing Swahili. Pleased to hear recorded safety precautions in English and Kiswahili on the inbuilt PA System. @jumuiya @KenyaAirways @AirTanzania @UG_Airlines @AndrewMwenda @RugyendoQuotes @TonyOwana @DeoAkiiki @ChrisOMagezi @AKasingye @FredEnanga1 International Kiswahili Conference 14th-16th April is on. @SingoeiAKorir Sir, You are a disgrace to Kenya and you spit on the memory of our fathers and martyrs of independence who accepted these borders and advocated for Pan-Africanism, You have spat on the memory and struggle of the great Pan-Africanist Jomo Kenyatta, But allow me to respond to you: Your statement subtly attempts to legitimize an expansionist ideology that threatens the sovereignty of African states. We know that Kenya takes a biased position in the conflict between the DRC and Rwanda in the East, and we are not fooled by your attempts to justify aggression against our country. 1.The DRC has nine neighbors, yet only Rwanda and its accomplices seek to justify armed interference under the pretext of transborder communities. Have you forgotten that the Bazombo people live on both sides of the border between Angola and the DRC without ever taking up arms against our country? Why have the Bambembe, who also share transborder ties, never demanded annexation to another state through violence? 2.Is Kenya preparing to wage war against Tanzania to unite the Maasai? According to your logic, this community would be “legitimized” in demanding territorial reconfiguration. Yet, neither Kenya nor Tanzania would tolerate such reasoning. Why then apply and promote this destructive logic? 3.Kenya’s complicity in the instability in Eastern Congo is no longer a secret. We know why Kenyan mercenaries are found in the ranks of the M23. Kenya’s involvement in maintaining this chaos serves economic and geopolitical interests that go far beyond the mere rhetoric of regional integration. 4.History has taught us that colonial-era borders are not an excuse for the dismantling of states. The Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU), clearly established in 1964 the principle of the inviolability of colonial borders to prevent endless wars between African states. You cannot challenge this fundamental principle today simply because it serves Rwanda’s interests and its allies. 5.Kenya supported Félix Tshisekedi in the mediation with the M23, but in reality, it has never been a neutral mediator. While you advocate for a peaceful solution, M23 fighters continue to receive weapons and logistical support. If your government truly sought peace, it would unequivocally condemn Rwanda’s aggression instead of seeking to justify it. Sir, Africa must cease to be a battleground for expansionist and economic ambitions disguised as regional integration. The DRC will never accept that a state or an organization redraws its borders under the false pretext of ethnic continuity. You will never convince the Congolese that regional integration means war and the balkanization of their country!
