Later this afternoon, I held fruitful discussions with H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of Gabon. We discussed the importance of Africa processing its own raw materials instead of exporting them in their unprocessed form. I informed him about Uganda’s efforts in value addition, especially in agriculture, manufacturing and oil refinery development. I also shared our experience in wealth creation through commercial agriculture, ICT, services and industrialisation. I welcomed Gabon’s interest in working with Uganda in areas such as agriculture, military training and private sector development. Africa has everything required to transform itself if we prioritise production, patriotism & cooperation.

Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo continue to deepen their bilateral cooperation through the signing of Memoranda of Understanding across key sectors, including trade, security, ICT, public administration, diplomatic relations, tourism, and transport. These agreements mark an important step in strengthening people-to-people ties, improving cross-border cooperation, expanding trade opportunities, enhancing connectivity, and supporting peace and stability in the Great Lakes Region. Former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has expressed happiness following his wife’s entry into Parliament, saying he has finally gotten a new job, as the Personal Assistant and consultant to Jacqueline Mbabazi. He made the remarks while speaking to journalists at Parliament, after Jacqueline took oath as MP to represent the Elderly from Western Uganda, although the former Premier first declined to speak to journalists on grounds that the day was for the wife to shine not his, but after some pleading, he allowed to speak and expressed hope that the 12th Parliament would perform well because it has effective voices like Jacqueline’s.

I welcomed H.E. Daniel Francisco Chapo, President of Mozambique, to Uganda on his first visit to our country. I appreciate the historic relationship between Uganda and Mozambique, especially the support Mozambique extended to FRONASA fighters who trained in Montepuez during the liberation struggle. Today, we held discussions at State House Entebbe on matters of national and regional importance, particularly security and the continued cooperation between our two countries.

I met Mr. Ata Serdarov, Leader of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, who represented H.E. Serdar Berdimuhamedow at my swearing-in ceremony. I thanked him for travelling to Uganda and asked him to convey my appreciation to President Berdimuhamedow for the solidarity shown to our country. We also discussed strengthening cooperation between Uganda and Turkmenistan, especially in diplomacy and parliamentary relations.

On her way back home, H.E. Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, Vice President of Venezuela, paid a courtesy call on me at State House Entebbe. I thank her for honouring our invitation to the swearing-in ceremony. She briefed me on the current situation in Venezuela, and we discussed the need to strengthen diplomatic and bilateral cooperation between our two countries. We agreed to explore collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of our people.

I have today been duly sworn in as your Member of Parliament in the 12th Parliament and I am ready to serve you with dedication and integrity. Together, we shall deliver!

Salute to the CDF @mkainerugaba for the stellar parades and the synchronized work of the airforce and the integrity of the armed forces. Salute to @KagutaMuseveni the CIC, Mzee wa kazi and my own personal hero. Praise to the LORD GOD for this success for Uganda and for the NRM.
