On World Book Day I’m reading a motor racing memoir giving a behind the scenes view of one of the most romanticised eras. It is well written, but the real joy is the candid photos which bring the races and drivers to life, melting away the half century between then and now.

Mrs C has a column to write so I’ve been ordered to not get under foot and find something to do elsewhere. I don’t disobey orders so have gone outside to do further crucial work on culturally assimilating.
