The best part of accumulating wealth is that you can start saying increasingly insane things and people begin treating them as insight instead of retardation

@Miss_Oluremi See, a smart woman would have ordered food just for herself. Sleeping hungry to prove a point is insanely stupid.

I’ve noticed with a low margin of error pattern that the bounce back is usually 6-9 months long after hitting rock bottom, as long as you lock in and avoid pity parties or victim mentality. Leveling up after a setback takes the same amount of time as baking a baby.

Your husband can have a good job at Tesla when you get married and 2 years in he’s laid off, his highly skilled so you think another job is gonna happen soon, next thing you know it’s 3-6 months of job hunting, savings draining, what’s gonna happen next? Leave him? Loool

It’s also persistent network effects Maybe especially obvious in my field, but there are opportunities I will simply never have because I’m a first generation college grad and was not born into a family with a country club membership, and this didn’t become entirely obvious until well after graduation I have friends who have already started their own practice, and it’s because (for example) their dad is friends with a guy who owns banks and was willing to take a chance on them Or they got into that sophomore year internship pipeline (which I didn’t know was possible) because of a family connection in the building industry Or took a prestigious but barely-paid job with a famous designer because they didn’t have to cover their own living expenses I can, have, and will continue to work hard and build a reputation of my own, but there are whole corridors of doors that will never be open to me because of my background, and I’ve had to come to terms with that and learn to be a little nicer to myself Hard work matters, but no, this is not a meritocracy. A lot of us have to muscle our way as high as we can and watch someone else take an escalator. There’s no point in being bitter about it, but it’s worth acknowledging every now and again
Nick Maggiulli@dollarsanddata

A lot of this comes down to poorer kids just not knowing what to do. I didn't know that I had to apply for an internship in the WINTER of my sophomore year to get a sophomore summer internship to leverage into a junior summer internship to get a full-time offer senior year.

Just days before Passover, the Western Wall stands completely empty, where Jews would normally gather in prayer. Because of Iranian missile attacks on Jerusalem, they can’t. This is unacceptable.

@Astro_x_thunder @Shad_khalif Does the Kenyan University System aside from some outliers like Strathmore train for work place ethics? Does it even proactively prepare students for the job market? I guess not. We ni millennial haikosi?
