There are no aliens. Even if there were (and there aren't) they would have no way of getting here. The distances are simply too vast. Far, far too vast. The nearest star outside of our own sun is 4.2 light-years away. No aliens, no matter how clever, will ever be able to travel anywhere near the speed of light. The laws of physics prevent it. To accelerate any mass at all (even a pebble) to anything approaching even 1/3rd the speed of light would take incomprehensibly vast amounts of energy. You need a lot of spaceship (and I mean YUGE) to hold that much energy. So, now you've got a heck of a lot more than a pebble to move. Your energy problem just got infinitely worse. It's impossible folks. ET ain't out there, and even if he was, he ain't dropping by for a visit.

Florida is becoming the most compelling state in the USA. 0% income tax rate; soon to be 0% property taxes, runs a budget surplus; has $15B in reserves. It will become the fastest growing state in the next year. States should take note of what is working there and try to emulate.

I will continue to say it: The NBA thinking on tanking is completely wrong. As long as you allocate talent by draft, you will never stop tanking. The goal should be for fewer teams to tank for the shortest amount of time possible. The answer to that is obvious: Get rid of the lottery and draft by reverse order. The worst teams get the best players, improve and move out of tank phase. The NBA’s wonky lottery odds has made the problem worse because you get a handful of unlucky franchises stuck in the 5-10 draft range and struggle to improve.

@JakeAndBall BB is my all time favorite. But it’s so subjective. The most overlooked GOAT show is The Leftovers. Perhaps the best show HBO has done. And yes I said that.

Having watched Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Succession, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Wire, etc… I have no clue how people have Breaking Bad at No. 1 on their lists. Sopranos + The Wire are in a tier of their own with Succession in solo third.

@JakeAndBall BB was a great show but used cliffhangers very well which kept people engaged and wanting more. Sopranos and Wire are better. Season 1 & 2 of Bloodline are as good as TV gets.

@seanmdav @SouthwestAir Interesting. I stopped flying SW because the boarding process took way too long because no assigned seats. People looking for window/aisle seats so everything bottle necked. Figured the assigned seats would be better and I’d try SW again.

Dear @SouthwestAir: Your new seating rules and boarding procedures are a DISASTER. Boarding is chaos. Deboarding is even worse. Your new boarding order leads to front bins being filled by back seaters before longtime A-Listers even board. This leads to madness upon deboarding as people go against the flow of traffic to get the carry-ons they had to stash 20 rows behind them. And because you no longer allow two bags to be checked for free, there are way more carry-ons, which only leads to longer boarding and deboarding times. There’s simply no reason to fly Southwest anymore. You don’t have the lowest fares. Miles and status don’t matter because of how badly you dorked up boarding. And the service quality has gone waaaaay down, with fun and cheery flight attendants being replaced by nasty, bossy cranks with bad attitudes. It doesn’t have to be this way. You used to be the best. You should go back to doing the things that made Southwest different and great.
