Good news for Windows 11 gamers: Microsoft is quietly working on a major internal plan called “K2” to slash bloat, boost performance, and make the OS seriously competitive with SteamOS. >SteamOS is now the official benchmark, Microsoft wants Windows 11 to deliver identical (or better) gaming performance on the exact same hardware >Dramatically lower idle RAM usage and a much lighter overall OS footprint >Heavy cuts to AI clutter and pre-installed junk >Completely rebuilt Start menu, reportedly up to 60% faster >A ton of other under-the-hood tweaks (faster File Explorer, snappier UI, fewer background processes, etc.) The changes are probably due to make Windows look better on Project Helix and future handheld/Xbox PC hardware. It finally feels like Microsoft is listening people, can’t believe it

@Stephen12091783 @MoDOT They close the lanes in France too and roadwork vehicles still get hit, a few cones isn't going to make a difference if the driver is distracted enough to rear-end a stopped truck with flashing lights... The issue here is the drivers, not just the protocol

@MoDOT Close that lane off like they do in the UK with cones then you would not need a TMA.

Our TMAs were hit 50 times last year. Fifty. Distracted driving puts every life on the road at risk. Make the right choice behind the wheel—stay focused. Never drive distracted. 📵🚗

@YeetSquatch @stevenspohn But even then, what's the issue with having a "lower difficulty" setting? Like explain to me WHY you think it should not exist...

@stevenspohn That depends on the game. If the game itself is meant to be difficult to beat (like dark souls 2: scholar of the first sin for example) then accessibility options can work only if they don't lower the difficulty in any way

@Snukkems_Art @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux You said that using multiple cameras for projection viewport was free which is far from being the case, it's just not costly enough to prevent doing it a couple times...

@Snukkems_Art @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux OK, I'm now positive you don't really know what you're talking about, none of the links you added are relevant to our discussion. And monitors with extra player views ARE expensive, but you can lower the cost by rendering at a lower resolution and lower quality

@P1G4ME @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux You know how games used to have loading screens? We used to prerender it. You can see the effect in Deus Ex Irc.Theres a bathroom in headquarters with like 3 different mirrors but only one has a room The rest are just cameras aimed to give the illusion of reflection of the others

@Snukkems_Art @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux I'm trying to take the loss and learn something here: How does adding a second camera to a scene doesn't require a second rendering of the scene from that new camera?

@P1G4ME @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux No. You just point a viewpoint camera at the main room or the mirror. The projection will act like a mirror from that point on. That is a trick I learned when I was oh...getting my fucking masters in this shit.

@Snukkems_Art @takeshi_no_uta @BrodieOnLinux Not advocating for RT but this is just wrong: - "costs nothing" : yes the fuck it does - if 2 mirrors are in view of each other, you need several back and forth renders to simulate the duplication effect - "scales infinitely" again, not at all

@Ben_W0LFF @totallynotretro Oh I'm not saying the contrary, I was there too 5 years ago, but all I'm saying is that it isn't Steam's fault for this issue, more like Steam is putting in considerable efforts to compensate for the studio's lazyness

@P1G4ME @totallynotretro 5 years ago I believed it was impossible to play Windows games on Linux with good performance. Valve made that a reality and doubly so on a handheld. I wouldn't say it's "impossible" to find a solution to kernel level anticheat

@XanderXCIV @totallynotretro They are but they are not Linux native, and the kernel level anticheats don't work well with Proton (yet)... Hopefully the release of more SteamOS based hardware will increase the pressure on devs to support Linux (through proton or through native builds)

@totallynotretro Linux... yes! Not being able to play some of the most popular games and pretending this is a good thing... I'm sorry, this is extreme levels of copium. I'm 100% rooting for Steam, and will buy this, but they NEED to solve this problem.

@avantis100 @totallynotretro Most compatibility issues arise with the use of anticheat systems, In my experience as long as it is single player it works fine. You can check protondb.com to check for game's ability to work with proton.

@totallynotretro Honest question because I play in console. I'm thinking buying it mainly to play single player RTS (Total War, Age of Empires...), RPGs, etc. that are not available on console or plays poorly on console. Do you expect any incompatibility on those genres?

@VyceVictus This is super lame and not what anime and animation is all about. Why don't they just rotoscope the whole thing or just make it live action? Lame, let board artists do what they think is best and why tie our animation to the rule of physics. Again, lame. Loser move.

The show LAZARUS seems to have also used this process, a full fledged stunt pre-vis team creating the skeleton of the action. Wonder who else is doing this, love the results so far
VyceVictus@VyceVictus

Incredible look into the action behind BLUE EYE SAMURAI. Neither motion capture nor live model references like in traditional animation, they instead employ a full-fledged stunt choreography team like for film/tv and incorporate it directly into the storyboard/animation process
