No person/candidate in this country has an automatic, mandated divine right to the Presidency. Trying to intimidate any opposition is something Russia, China, and N. Korea do and have done.

This morning Trump said he might not want to do a deal with Iran. Markets dumped out. Now after the close he said talks are going very well. This man has been fucking with markets for over a year now, each statement designed to make someone money.

For thirteen months, Donald Trump has spent more time undermining allies than preparing to fight alongside them, publicly belittling NATO partners. NATO fields over 22,000 aircraft and more than 1,100 warships. Europe brings minehunters for Hormuz, anti submarine frigates, AWACS, surveillance drones, and a continent scale signals intelligence network. Add Canada, Australia, decades of shared bases, integrated command, and 700 million people with German industrial logistics and capacity Iran cannot match. All of it is on the sidelines. The Strait stays closed. American soldiers are dying. And 700 million allies who once would have shown up without hesitation are now watching from a distance they did not choose. Trump created this mess.

The Hormuz buffer is gone. For four weeks, the world ran on stockpiles and tankers already at sea. That supply is now arriving. Once it’s unloaded, there’s nothing left in the queue. Spare capacity is trapped behind the blockade. Asian and European refiners will now compete for the same barrels. Prices go up. Jet fuel is already up 93%. One more shock, anywhere, and markets have nothing left to absorb it. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

The United States is requiring World Cup visitors from several nations to post cash bonds of up to $15,000 before they can enter the country, a measure that risks pricing out the fans the tournament is supposed to attract. The bond requirement, described by US authorities as a tool against illegal immigration, has alarmed football federations across multiple qualifying nations. It is not yet clear whether players themselves could be affected. European fans, meanwhile, are filing complaints over FIFA’s ticket prices. A World Cup on American soil. $15,000 to get through the door. FIFA charging whatever FIFA feels like charging. The beautiful game, priced accordingly. AGandalv / @Microinteracti1

The legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin is one of medieval Europe's most enduring and mysterious stories, rooted in a real event that took place in the German town of Hamelin, Lower Saxony, in 1284. The earliest known reference to the legend appears on a stained-glass window placed in the Church of Hamelin around 1300, which was later destroyed in 1660 and reconstructed by historian Hans Dobbertin based on surviving descriptions. The core story centers on a piper, dressed in multicolored clothing, who was hired by the town's burgermeister to rid Hamelin of a rat infestation, with a promised payment of 1,000 guilders. The piper succeeded, using his magical pipe to lure the rats into the Weser River, where they drowned. When the burgermeister refused to pay the agreed amount — reportedly offering only 50 guilders — and even accused the piper of having brought the rats himself, the piper vowed revenge. On the feast day of Saints John and Paul, June 26, 1284, while the adults of Hamelin were at church, the piper returned and played his pipe once more. This time, 130 children followed him out of the town and vanished, never to be seen again. The Lüneburg manuscript, dating to around 1440–1450, provides one of the earliest written German accounts of the event, describing a handsome young man of about thirty years who entered Hamelin by the West Gate playing a silver pipe. An inscription on the Rattenfängerhaus, or Rat Catcher's House, still standing in Hamelin today, commemorates the disappearance of the 130 children and is considered one of the oldest surviving accounts of the legend. The rats were actually not part of the original story and only appeared in a version recorded between 1559 and 1565, more than two centuries after the presumed historical event. Scholars have debated for centuries what may have actually happened to those 130 children, and no single explanation has been universally accepted. One prominent theory suggests that the children were recruited by so-called lokators, medieval agents who traveled through Germany enlisting young people to colonize newly opened territories in Eastern Europe following the German defeat of the Danes at the Battle of Bornhöved in 1227. Linguist Jürgen Udolph found that family names common to Hamelin in the 13th century appear with striking frequency in the regions of Prignitz and Uckermark north of Berlin, and in what is now northwestern Poland, lending credibility to the emigration theory. Other historians have proposed that the children may have perished in a natural disaster such as a landslide, a drowning event in the Weser River, or an outbreak of disease, with the Piper serving as a symbolic figure of Death. Some researchers connect the legend to medieval episodes of dancing mania, including a 1237 incident in which a large group of children traveled roughly 20 kilometers from Erfurt to Arnstadt, jumping and dancing compulsively throughout the journey. The street in Hamelin where the children were last seen, Bungelosenstrasse, has traditionally forbidden music and dancing ever since, a custom maintained to the present day. The legend spread widely through European literature and folklore, appearing in the writings of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Brothers Grimm, and most famously in Robert Browning's 1842 poem, which became the definitive English-language version of the tale. Today the city of Hamelin embraces the legend as a cornerstone of its identity, observing June 26 each year as Rat Catcher's Day and hosting tourist festivals that draw visitors from around the world. #archaeohistories

Dear @FatherAltman, First, name-calling is inappropriate for a priest. Second, you know your bishop has asked you not to present yourself as a priest while he investigates. Third, you have made schismatic claims & I have not seen repentance so I doubt you are part of the "real Catholic Church." Finally, if anyone here abandoned their flock, it is not @CardinalDolan, but you who chose such internet infamy over active ministry. Please repent & return to full communion & make the changes so you can return to active ministry.
