Matipandile Sotheni, the man accused of being the trigger man in the assassination of Marius van der Merwe, also known as Witness D in the Madlanga Commission, was a trained police special task force member. He has been in the private sector since 2019 where his skill set has been in high demand. Up until October 2024, he was employed as a bodyguard by a well known tobacco baron, but was dismissed. Since the end of 2024, Matipandile Sotheni was linked to the #ZamaZama illicit gold trade, which is where he in all probability crossed paths with Marius van der Merwe. Marius van der Merwe was part of a @carteblanchetv insert into #ZamaZamas. Marius van der Merwe was engaged in a grey area allegedly being in the centre of warring #ZamaZama factions and was even at a stage implicated in the destruction of the informal settlement known as “Plastic City”. There seems to be a convergence on the East Rand of bad actors that have involved themselves in the ongoing turf wars between #ZamaZama bosses. It is exceptionally concerning that we are seeing the high demand for the skill set of the exceptionally well trained members of the police special task force. Lest we forget that East Rand and Pretoria crime boss, Vusi “Cat” Matlala, confidant of EMPD suspended chief, Julius Mkhwanazi, hired ex police special task force members to protect him and his illegal blue light brigade, and allegedly used these members to settle scores. Some people weren’t raised by two parents, they were raised by their mother while their father just lived in the house. Presence is not the same as parenting. So it’s strange when people look down on single-parent homes as if emotional absence is better than honesty about who actually showed up.
Matthew Coast@MatthewCoast

What people don’t understand is that MOST households are run by a single mother, whether she has a husband or not.

Do you know why these signs are put up every 200 meters along the road? This is in case you need help, then you can explain to the Emergency Services exactly where you are. The N3 is the highway you are driving on. The -6 is a "section" of the road. 25.6 is the amount of kilometers you have traveled from the previous town. N is the direction (north).... Be safe this holiday season.

A Bachelor of Arts ya eng? The one that teaches you to think - not fetch…If you believe education’s only valuable when it makes you money, I’m afraid capitalism has you house-trained. Also…how is a BA useless, Nthabiseng?
Nthabiseng@maetsa_kabomo

Someone has to have the courage to tell us as black people at one point to stop studying useless degrees. We can't choose degrees like we come from wealthy families. Ke Bachelor of Arts ya eng geno ba tshepile wena?
