@Kevin_Maguire Its just a number a think tank has come up with. But it assumes a lot and you cannot control what people spend money on. Workers rights and min wage are good to see. But without fair rents, the issues for many continue. No good ignoring that and the reality of what many face.

LEGAL UPDATE (06/04/26): Six days after Labour peer and government whip Mike Katz published defamatory statements against me, there has been: No apology. No offer of damages. This is totally unacceptable for a senior political official. My crowdfunder has now passed 50% of its target. If Mr. Katz continues to ignore this, he will be hearing from my legal team. chuffed.org/project/175916…

One of the most elegant blooms of the year… and it arrives before most plants have even woken up. Camellias bring structure, colour, and sophistication to the garden when little else is in flower but choosing the right one for your garden is key. Did you know there are two main flowering seasons? 🌸 Camellia sasanqua — flowers autumn into early winter 🌸 Camellia japonica & williamsii — flower late winter into spring Choose wisely, and you can enjoy camellia blooms for months. But to really get the best from them, it’s all about understanding their needs… 💡 Expert growing advice: 🌿 Acid-loving plants — grow in ericaceous compost or acidic soil 💧 Use rainwater where possible — tap water can raise soil pH over time 🌤️ Position in partial shade — especially sheltered from early morning sun, which can damage frost-hit buds 🌱 Consistent moisture is key — they dislike drying out, particularly in summer when buds are forming 🍂 Mulch annually with leaf mould or bark to retain moisture and improve soil And here’s a crucial tip many gardeners miss… Flower buds form in late summer — so any stress (drought, poor feeding) at that time can mean fewer blooms the following year. Why camellias are so valuable: Evergreen structure all year round Glossy foliage that looks good even out of bloom Early-season colour when gardens need it most Perfect for pots, patios, and borders alike A well-grown camellia isn’t just a plant… it is a seasonal highlight. Get it right, and it will reward you with breathtaking blooms year after year 🌿 Save this before choosing your camellia 👇 Watch the latest episode of Step-by-Step Gardening, filmed at Blue Diamond Garden Centres, Bridgemere Show Gardens 👉 bit.ly/4cinv2z #Camellia #GardenTips #UKGardening #SpringGarden #FloweringShrub

Absolute bombshell on Al Jazeera. The US and Israel have deliberately bombed over 30 universities across Iran, assassinating professors in their homes and massacring over 60 students. Washington is systematically trying to destroy Iranian scientific progress.

Jonathan Reynolds - Labour MP for Stalybridge and Hyde (Greater Manchester) since 2010. Jonathan is the Secretary of State for Business and Trade. Jonathan is a ‘Parliamentary Officer’ in the lobby organisation Labour Friends of Israel and was very much involved in the plots, coups and leadership bids aimed at removing Jeremy Corbyn as Labour leader. The @MENnewsdesk found that no Manchester MP claims more in expenses than Jonathan. @SkyNews found that the highest rent claimed by any Labour MP for accommodation in London was from Jonathan. Jonathan’s wife is also his senior Parliamentary assistant. Jonathan has accepted the following donations and perks: £720 in tickets and hospitality from @SRTRC_England for a football match at @SunderlandAFC ⚽️ £1,500 in tickets and hospitality from @ManUtd for a match at Old Trafford. ⚽️ £3,000 from Martin Littler. £54,770.42 from @unitetheunion £3,457 in tickets and hospitality from the @EntainGroup and @BetGameCouncil for a match at Wembley. ⚽️ £3,000 from Tony Blair associate David Claydon. £1,500 in tickets and hospitality from Ernst & Young LLP @EYnews for The Chelsea Flower Show.🌺 £1,700 from Labour Friends of Israel for a trip to Israel. 🇮🇱 ✈️ £4,000 from The Indian High Commission for a trip to India.🇮🇳 ✈️ £10,545.58 from the Hong Kong government for a trip.✈️🇭🇰 £2,950 from Public First. £2,000 from the @CommunityUnion £750 in tickets and hospitality from @SunderlandAFC for a match at Wembley.⚽️ £1,428 in tickets and hospitality from the @IvorsAcademy for the Ivor Novello Awards.🎶 £468 in tickets and hospitality from @swfc ⚽️ £3,377 in tickets and hospitality from @Google for the Glastonbury Festival. ⛺️ (Labour had promised to increase the digital service/corporation tax from 2% to 10%. Trump’s Easter tweet does that sound like a mentally well person? Grok’s response: No, that post does not read like the writing of a mentally well person in any conventional, professional, or diplomatic sense. Here’s why it stands out as erratic and concerning, even by Trump’s long-established personal style: • Profanity and casual vulgarity: “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards” — this is raw, unfiltered street-level trash talk, not the language of a head of state issuing a high-stakes military ultimatum. Presidents (even blunt ones) have historically used stronger rhetoric through channels that maintain some gravitas. This feels like an angry late-night text. • Bizarre, childish phrasing: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one” sounds like a kid describing a theme park event (“it’s Christmas and birthday all in one!”). Framing potential bombing of critical infrastructure (power plants and bridges, which would cause massive civilian suffering) as cutesy “Days” is surreal and detached. • Incoherent religious flourish: Ending with “Praise be to Allah” right after threatening hell on a Muslim-majority country is jarring, tone-deaf, and reads like a troll or a confused mash-up. It undercuts any serious message and adds to the sense of rambling. • Overall tone: All-caps yelling (“JUST WATCH!”), exclamation overload, and threats that mix bravado with vagueness. It lacks structure, policy context, or strategic clarity — it reads more like emotional venting than calculated statecraft. This fits a broader pattern with Trump: impulsive, hyperbolic social media posting that often blurs the line between negotiation tactic, personal grievance, and performance. Supporters often call it “unfiltered” or “strong”; critics (including some in his own orbit over the years) have repeatedly described similar outbursts as unhinged, erratic, or evidence of declining impulse control.
