I have had 2 marriage proposals but each man had significant emotional and behavioral issues that proved to me I would be forced to put myself aside to support him as every generation in my family did and most every generation in any female friends’ family I know did as well. My happiness is not tied to a man. As an educator and yoga instructor for children, I’ve spent a lot of my life caring for others’ children. White women have been given privileges to contribute to the feminist mission but the fight is far from fucking over for sisterhood as a whole. The woman above is clear that her goal was tied to getting married and having children. Never been my goal. I have supported myself independently since I was 15. When you do that you learn you are just as worthy if not more so because as a woman you can do it while being proactive about the needs of those around you, the most charismatic of the family, the one with the best stories, the one that breaks generational curses and rewrites history daily just by living let alone your successes. How dare she try and blame the unhappiness on the individual. 1st, happiness is not the goal. 2nd, the aching reality that society still believes the worth of a woman is tied to a man is where the pain comes in. I pray for your employees and the females in your life that you someday will learn the difference. I learn daily just on X that the collective conscious is quite far from reality. If you can find me a man that can hunt lions, lead without ego at the forefront, courageous in heart and mind, and lead with vulnerability, then I’d be happy to join that partner. I’d be thrilled to raise children with that man. Until then, I’ll play the game, look good doing it, be everyone’s therapist, and sleep soundly in my bed with my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Sunshine, by my side.
