@Nigel_Farage The relatives of flight Pan Am 103 and the people of Lockerbie will long remember the consequences of allowing the USA to use air bases in the UK for an attack against another sovereign nation.
@JordanEVGuy This is literally the argument I make when talking about EVs(I do own one). If you turn the tables and talk about ICE vehicles being the new technology then the reasons to change to ICE feom an EV seems stupid.
I’m thinking of replacing my electric car with a petrol or diesel, and had a few questions.
1. I’ve heard you can’t refuel petrol or diesel cars at home overnight like you can with an EV.
Does that mean regular trips to a fuel station every week?
2. The salesman mentioned things like engine oil changes, timing belts and gearboxes that need servicing.
How often does that all need doing, and how much does it usually cost?
3. I currently spend about £5 to do roughly 250 miles in my EV.
Is it true a petrol or diesel is 5-10x more expensive per mile?
4. Someone also told me these cars carry 40–60 litres of highly flammable liquid that’s constantly being exploded a few feet from where you sit.
5. I’ve also been told these cars have thousands of moving parts. Engines, gearboxes, belts, pumps, plugs etc.
How often do things go wrong and what sort of maintenance costs are normal?
6. I've heard that the main component of is oil. Is it true that the extraction and refining of oil causes environmental problems, as well as conflicts and major wars which have claimed millions of lives over the past 100 years.
That can’t be right, can it?
Just trying to understand what I’d be getting myself into before making the switch.
We’re already seeing Countryfile’s Charles Rees in tears asking:
“How am I going to save my farm?”
If that’s “largely protected”, I’d hate to see what an attack looks like.
Let’s be honest: Reeves has no idea what she’s doing.
Treasury insiders describe her as a headless chicken.
Markets don’t trust her.
Her own ministers are briefing she’s created an omnishambles.
And yet she’s been given the power to dismantle Britain’s food system?
@SuzieWo20886208 I had a conversation with some yesterday about private healthcare. I don't think most people understand that the vested interests like the MP for Clacton would push for a US model as that's where the money is to be made.
There are literally millions of Brits who actually believe that Private Healthcare will take care of them from the cradle to the grave.
For about £30 a month.
They obviously have no Idea how many are bankrupt in America.
And these are the middle classes..
From the archives! Loic Duval and a very young looking Antonio Felix da Costa at Montreal in July 2017. What a weekend that was! What do you remember from that infamous EPrix? #FormulaE
@JordanEVGuy@McKinsey@Motor_Biscuit Its early days for me for my used Tesla M3, got it a week ago and i don't think ill ever change back. The 500 mpg equivalent running costs is just one factor as I wont change.
According to @McKinsey and @Motor_Biscuit 46% of EV drivers will switch back to petrol or diesel with their next purchase.
So…EV drivers, what will your next purchase be?
How many responses can we get?
Share far and wide!!!

And so it begins. #AndreaJenkyns has awarded herself an increase of £150K to “run her office” as Mayor of Lincolnshire. Council taxpayers will now have to fork out £262K per annum for the privilege.

Love how the right-wingers in the comments are pretending this is all just about illegal immigration. We all know they'd immediately start on ALL immigration if they ever did manage to stop the small boats. First it was Brexit, now this, then it will just be something else.
Asylum hotel protesters merrily dance and sing along to massive British cultural icon, Freddie Mercury. It completely passes them by that he was an immigrant refugee who came here to escape political unrest and violence in Zanzibar. Couldn't make it up, really.
Electric vehicles are greener.
The ICCT report states that EV’s are on average 73% greener overall, compared to petrol and diesel.
This includes all stages of a vehicle life cycle.
It can be argued that they are ever greener than this report, given that they use 3.22 miles per kWh as the baseline.
Most EV’s in 2025 achieve at least 4 miles per kWh, including my Tesla Model Y.

@0Calamity Great thread, I've bookmarked ot for reference, I'm probably going to need it! The rich man making the argument now said all of their troubles would be solved by leaving the EU and look how that's turned out.
10. So you hate migrants? Whoopdido. But for the love of god, stop allowing rich men with billionaire corporate sponsors to convince you that all your problems will be over if the ECHR has gone.
If it goes, that will the beginning of ALL our problems, and in the end of theirs.
1. Hey, ECHR Haters.
Do you know what an Osman Warning is?
It is when the police are obliged by law to warn you if they believe there is a genuine, credible threat against your life.
You know where it comes from?
Article 2 ECHR.
@wiltsfarmfoods I narrowly avoided being hot by one of your vehicles this morning. Yp20 yhx drove out of an industrial unit at speed without looking down the road. I was on my bicycle at the time. Can you contact me to discuss this further
@jules4u11@GoodwinMJ You may of heard of Dubai? its part of the UAE with 88% of population international migrants, I'm quite sure its a Muslim country.
84% of all babies born in the City of London have either one or both parents who were born outside of the UK
Office for National Statistics, this morning
@AlexEdgerton I've often thought EV trucks would be a good fit for airports. I guess they do little overall mileage and the running do is probably the most inefficient due to the slow speeds.
Electric fuel trucks - the ultimate irony?
Not really. It makes sense. Lots of stuff still needs liquid fuel, and this is the most efficient way to get it there. Going to see more of these.
We're taking a few questions from listerners to @wearetherace Formula E podcast this week. If you have a burning one then ask away and we will do our best to answer. #FormulaE
So let’s just get this crystal clear.
If somebody is trying to manufacture a laptop in the U.S., the components that they import are going to be tariffed at 145%.
But if somebody simply makes the laptop entirely in China, they are fully tariff free?
And this is all to bring manufacturing back to the U.S.?
