Important information! To all our esteemed Local Government leaders -Chairpersons LC V, City Mayors, Division Mayors, Town Council Mayors, and Sub-County Chiefs: I wish to share the guidance I received from the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Adviser on Special Operations, General @mkainerugaba , on the importance of naming all our streets and roads in our Cities, Divisions, Municipalities, Town Councils, and other urban areas. Proper naming of streets and roads will greatly assist in easy location, emergency response, security operations, service delivery, urban planning, investment, and other important national operations. You are therefore directed to ensure that all streets and roads within your areas of jurisdiction are officially named by 30th August 2026. In this important exercise, Local Governments should consider honouring distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to Uganda, Africa, and humanity, including: • Traditional rulers and cultural leaders • Kings and eminent historical figures • NRA liberation and resistance heroes • UPDF heroes and distinguished national servants • Former Presidents and national leaders • Outstanding Ugandans in public service, education, science, business, sports, arts, culture, and community development. All Local Governments should submit the approved list of names and Council resolutions to the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, and ensure that the respective street name signs are installed before 5th September 2026. Finally, let us continue keeping our Cities, Municipalities, Town Councils, and communities clean. Our GS, @HonTwallafadil, held a fruitful meeting with Mr. Arinda Edgar, PLU Coordinator for Mitooma District, who paid a courtesy visit at HQs in Naguru. They discussed reactivating the PLU structure in Mitooma to effectively mobilize communities for socio-economic transformation

Huge sums of monies have been sold to just a handful of individuals. Don't forget land grabbers, they have caused lots of misery to poor innocent Ugandans.

Corruption is the biggest enemy of Uganda's progress. Anyone ready to confront it head-on deserves to be heard and supported. If PLU is serious about building structures that promote patriotism and accountability while making corruption impossible to ignore, that is a step every patriotic Ugandan should welcome. The fight against corruption should never be selective—it must be consistent, fearless, and in the national interest.

Correct Hon Minister, seems there has been deliberate watch and ignoring of theft of public resources in lower local governments. This time we must follow and ensure people are prosecuted and convicted if found guilty, no bribing their way out. Asante
