Inter dealt with it well, with Bastoni jumping up - opposing centre-backs battling in midfield was obviously quite unusual. The game was really won when Akanji dribbled forward for the first time. Inter hadn’t planned for that. Acerbi had to move out of defence and that was that.

It actually didn’t work particularly well - he showed some lovely touches in deeper positions but kept miscontrolling the ball and (understandably) didn’t really know how to receive forward passes when unmarked, and lots of passing moves broke down as a result.

Agree and I thought Molumby was good. Collins had one of his best games. Ogbene is basically irreplaceable. Azaz should be played centrally or not at all because there is a gaping hole from Molumby to Parrott of just nothing.

Reality is that stupid schedule from the English FA and PL has destroyed the PL teams this season, the games are just too many. Teams in Europe shouldn't play in the league cup, but nope, it's traditional so it's sacrosanct, no matter how stupid the traditional is, they still play two legged ties in league cup semis for no reason ffs. PL teams get no winter break and no time to rest. PL teams worked themselves in the first half of the season and have nothing left now
