Excellent US-fem nerve block (for an acute hip fx) by fellow+PGY2. Great needle visualization with anesthetic placed safely away from the nerve. Notice how the anechoic fluid tracks under the fascia iliaca. You can see the fem nerve post block adjacent to the artery @HGHED

Ultrasound physics can be fun. The roots of diagnostic ultrasound are in sonar. Sound transmits through fluid, and a pleural effusion creates a window to the heart. #POCUS

Bread & butter #POCUS from QA: 1 -In the RUQ & LUQ, the diaphragm is the key landmark. It orients you to other structures, and helps define whether fluid is in the chest or abdomen. Here, it's in both. 2 -Spine sign = vertebrae seen above the diaphragm = solid or fluid present
