Anything with a number on it is just a comparison to the “best”. If the gold standard for 100m sprinting was 15 sec instead of 10 sec we wouldn’t say the 15 sec guy is “slow”… he’s statically the best in the world. So why do people get so beat up about a 40+ on the mat? All it is, is a comparison amongst an extremely large population of people. A random HS kid isn’t going to jump a 40.. provbaly barely gets a 30 if he’s a good athlete.

Everyone hates on the mat. The highest jumpers at my gym jump the highest on force plates, the mat, and vertec. No one actually cares what people jump. They only care about what percentile people rank compared to the best. Not to mention everyone that hates on the mat either can’t jump high, it can’t get kids numbers to improve on it.

“THAT JUMP DOES’NT COUNT HE TUCKED HIS KNEES” 🤡 1. You have never jumped on a mat and probably suck at it. 2. It may not “count” to you but a 43” vertical on a mat still is a very high “official” vertical on Ver Tec. 3. If a kid goes from a 20” tuck knee jump to a 40” tuck knee jump, his vertical improved by 20” ~ a HUGE improvement. 4. STOP HATING & PRODUCE SOME RESULTS

@slater_hp I’ve seen places that do max out weeks. They max everyday on a lift. It’s cool and fun, but it’s also a great way to destroy the CNS for a good bit 😂 I don’t think some of these people are aware of what CNS stands for either

Probably gonna get some hate for this but… The max out day for football is dumb Sure the players love it but other than that I don’t see a point If your argument is “we want to see how strong they got” Just use some VBT device and see if something is moving faster (if you got more powerful, you kinda have to get stronger for that to happen)
