@MetCastPod This is a huge miss for the other 29 teams that all could have had this guy. You have to assume The White Sox were very close to if not the last team he would have chosen to play for.
@YankeesRising@SNY_Mets It’s not like the Yankees lauded prospects have been good. Jason Dominguez was supposed to be special and that guy stinks. Volpe was supposed to be great and he might just be the worst starting SS in all of baseball.
@SNY_Mets Who is running the Mets Minor League pitching development?
Christian Scott, Brandon Sproat, and Jonah Tong are being lit up on every level.
Besides, Nolan McLean, literally all their pitching prospect 'studs' quickly flame out.
@BigOliveri@MetCastPod So are you saying they shouldn’t trade any high ceiling prospect ever at the deadline? That’s a pretty ridiculous argument. Sometimes you end up giving up a really good player unfortunately. I’d much rather actually try.
@PaddyFrankie@MetCastPod Again he barely played any minor league ball for them after being drafted. He should've been excluded from any list before being ranked. Especially being a high school draft pick. That's why they go through the levels in the minors so at 21 they're much stronger than at 17.
@BigOliveri@SAzzara42@MetCastPod In hindsight that is correct but was definitely not the prevailing view at the time. He also has not been very good at the plate since June last year. He looked like the MVP out of the gate and then slowed down dramatically.
@BigOliveri@MetCastPod All the prospect rankings had him behind Baty, Alvarez, Vientos, Mauricio, and multiple others. The scouting report was that he had a great glove, plus speed, good arm, and a questionable bat. Hence the reason why he was The Cubs 4th choice for Baez.
@PaddyFrankie@MetCastPod What are you talking about? He was picked 19th overall in the 20 draft. They traded him the next yr after covid reduced the amount of games he played in. How could they have known what he was at that point?
@Tim_Sikorski@sal_licata Hasn’t played as many games there and Vientos may just be the worst defensive player I have ever seen regularly play at the major league level. He makes Big Papi look like Keith Hernandez at 1B.
@Nick_Faria1720 Yes, the Jets, who have a bunchof holes all over the place need to trade assets to move up when they still don’t have a quarterback … make the click bait stop
Giants trade of Lawrence should embolden Darren Mougey and the #Jets to trade up and get a top WR on Thursday.
Go get top talent when it becomes available
@PASQUALEFO69435@Bill1000gb@draftniks That was kind of the point. Can’t judge anyone’s season at this point. Philly is in about the same spot. Have to give it some time. Longing for the players that won nothing is not the answer.
@PaddyFrankie@Bill1000gb@draftniks Right.
Alonso sucks because sample size doesn’t matter but Ryan who is playing worse in AAA is better because sample size.
And yes, it was totally Alonso’s fault that he couldn’t pitch past the 3rd inning last year. Lol
Mike Trout has four years left on his contract after this season for $140 million. The #Mets should take a risk and trade for him to put him over at first base. Would reduce injuries and make him like Bryce Harper. You wouldn’t have to give up much and he’d be back home in NY/NJ.
@PASQUALEFO69435@Bill1000gb@draftniks Definitely that Ryan Clifford. 3 weeks is not a good sample size. Kind of ridiculous to even mention. Pete’s really tearing it up in that bandbox down there in the same 3 weeks right? Keep longing for the days of not winning anything with him.
@PaddyFrankie@Bill1000gb@draftniks You mean the Ryan Clifford that is currently batting .216 with an .578 ops for 0 HRs and 2 RBIs?
That Ryan Clifford? Lol
