Just spoke with Prime Minister @CMShehbaz of Pakistan. I congratulated him on his efforts in facilitating the ceasefire between Iran and the United States. I assured him of Austria’s full support for a diplomatic solution to end the war. Freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law must be ensured. Today, I spoke with my counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Pakistan, His Excellency Mohammad Ishaq Dar. South Africa welcomes Pakistan’s mediation efforts in the Middle East. We continue to call for a cessation of all hostilities and strict adherence to international law to prevent further regional escalation. We note the ongoing initiatives aimed at a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations must be respected, and in accordance with international humanitarian law, civilians and infrastructure must never be targeted. South Africa urges all parties to engage in good faith negotiations. We reaffirm our support for impartial mediation and commend Pakistan’s leadership in restoring the primacy of diplomacy in the region.

Islamabad : 9 April, 2026 Austrian Chancellor calls the Prime Minister. Federal Chancellor of Austria, H.E. Christian Stocker, held a most warm telephone conversation with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, earlier today. While fondly recalling their recent meeting during his official visit to Vienna in February this year, the Prime Minister appreciated the Austrian Chancellor’s strong message of endorsement and support for Pakistan’s efforts that have led to the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, as well as ensuring resumption of negotiations between the two sides. Both leaders stressed upon the importance of ensuring that the ceasefire be upheld by all sides, thereby strengthening the prospects of successful negotiations, that could bring lasting peace and stability to the region and beyond.

I wholeheartedly welcome the latest development in the current US-Iran war, in respect of the ten-point plan as proposed by Iran and positively received by the US. This proposal augurs well for the restoration of peace and stability, not only to the region but also the rest of the world. It is earnestly hoped that the negotiation process will be conducted in good faith, with a firm resolve to seeking lasting resolution to the issues currently facing the region. Peace talks cannot succeed if the proceedings are cloaked in deception and double-dealing. It is imperative that the ten-point plan be translated into a comprehensive peace deal, not just for Iran, but also for Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. Further, it is incumbent upon the parties concerned to ensure the end of the genocide and dispossession of the people of Palestine, not least in Gaza. I once again extend our sincere congratulations and deep appreciation to Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the tireless and courageous diplomacy that helped bring this moment about. Pakistan's willingness to speak to all sides, without fear or favour, reflects the highest traditions of Muslim solidarity and international responsibility. Malaysia stands ready to support and complement all efforts in this regard. We also call on the international community to ensure unimpeded humanitarian access to all civilian populations affected by this war. Let this be a turning point towards lasting peace. ISLAMABAD: 7 April 2026. Telephone call between the Prime Minister and the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this afternoon. During their warm and cordial conversation, the two leaders discussed the ongoing hostilities in the region. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering and unflinching solidarity and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the wake of the ongoing attacks, and reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of the attack at the Al Jubeil oil facility in Saudi Arabia earlier today. He assured His Royal Highness the Crown Prince that the people and the Government of Pakistan would always stand shoulder to shoulder with their Saudi brothers and sisters, just as the Saudi leadership and people had always supported Pakistan, through thick and thin. The Prime Minister lauded the wisdom and sagacity of the Saudi leadership in exercising maximum restraint during the ongoing crisis, and stated that Pakistan was working assiduously for the success of the peace efforts, in partnership with other countries. He also apprised the Crown Prince on latest developments in Pakistan’s mediation efforts to de-escalate the Middle East crisis. The Prime Minister conveyed his warm wishes and respectful regards for The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversaiton with His Excellency Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran During their warm and cordial conversation that lasted for over forty-five minutes, the Prime Minister conveyed his deep appreciation for the wisdom and sagacity of the Iranian leadership in agreeing to the ceasefire and for accepting the Prime Minister’s offer to host negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in Islamabad later this week.
