Editorial note: considerable paraphrasing what’s been said, they do not seem to think that Green is actually a party normal people vote for. Seems potentially fatal but they think they’ve met this lady and she’s nice. Lady a row closer has closed her book 🤣

Two people are loudly discussing who they are going to vote for on the train (local candidates, not leaders) and honestly, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. I don’t think any of us know where these two are going to land. But I’m amused to be on the journey with them.

@WillTattersdill From a brief look it seems a recipe for getting more complete prats and fewer decent people into academia. Does explain a lot about some I’ve met though.

Sixteen years for stealing a flower pot. Britain’s Forgotten Prisoners, about the horrific IPP sentence, could be the most important film made in the UK this year. I hope those readying themselves for power watch it and do something about it. (By me.) theguardian.com/film/article/2…

@huddperegrines So one fledged today, safe on a roof with parents feeding it. The remaining 3 (yes a total of 4, we stand corrected and overjoyed) are still in the nest and watching their sibling. We can’t recall having 4 hatched/4 healthy juveniles in previous years

Spoke to a headteacher yesterday who has installed a washing machine in reception because so many parents can't afford to wash clothes. Election campaigns are largely ignoring the massive rise in genuine destitution.

What I love about the London Necropolis Railway was there were separate carriages for 1st, 2nd & 3rd class funerals (class is permanent) & there were 2 stations at Brookwood cemetery - one for Anglicans & one for Riff Raff. Lasted till 1941 when Luftwaffe put it out of action

☠️ Buy yourself a ticket (office) to the afterlife. The station house of the London Necropolis railway in Waterloo is up for sale. Ghoulish property developers (aren't they all?) have planning permission to turn it into flats. 💀

Manifesto week is a bit like having your meals designed by a four year old – so expect Haribo, party rings, and Jammy Dodgers.   What I’m going to be looking out for, though, is who is brave enough to put broccoli on the menu.   Who is brave enough to include some unpopular policies… as well as the sugary crowd pleasers.   Because let’s face it – whatever the make up of Parliament in a month’s time…the economic picture is not going to change overnight.   National debt will still be cripplingly high… public services will still need more investment… and the tax burden will still be at historically high levels.   Will there be a manifesto this week that addresses the scale of the challenge – and that levels with voters about what that really means in terms of policy? x.com/skypoliticshub…

If you ask the Treasury to assume Labour want to give everyone a free owl they will dutifully cost that as accurately as possible. But that doesn't mean Labour do, in fact, want to give everyone a free owl.
