The Israeli Defense Forces have issued an evacuation order for Beirut’s Jnah area, which includes two major referral hospitals; the Rafik Hariri University Hospital and Al Zahraa Hospital. At this time, no alternative medical facilities are available to receive approximately 450 patients from the two hospitals (including 40 patients in the ICU), rendering their evacuation operationally unfeasible. Both facilities are operating at full capacity, including treating the injured from the strikes of 8 April. This zone also encompasses the @mophleb complex, and hosts five shelters accommodating more than 5000 people.
I urge Israel to reverse this order and ensure the protection of all health facilities, health workers, patients and civilians.

Forensic Report Recommends Disciplinary Action Against Tshwane Metro Police Chief
A forensic investigation has recommended disciplinary proceedings against Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) Chief Commissioner Yolande Faro over her attendance at Chinese New Year celebrations at Sun City in February 2025.
According to a report by eNCA, the probe found that Deputy TMPD Chief Nomsa Nhlapo declared a R46,000 accommodation gift on behalf of department members, including Chief Faro.
The development comes days after Faro testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where she alleged a smear campaign against her as she fights corruption within the TMPD.
During her testimony, she addressed earlier claims including that she had misrepresented her qualifications and received a R450,000 voucher insisting a previous forensic probe had cleared her.
Faro previously received a final written warning in December 2025 for failing to disclose sponsored accommodation on the same trip.
The TMPD has not yet commented on the latest recommendations. The full forensic report has not been publicly released.
The story is developing.

@DerrickEvans4WV @elonmusk Cmon now...many American companies are operating in SA...how did they get it right? Surely by observing laws of SA and just to add...by not spreading false genocide claims.

Elon Musk: "I'm in this absurd situation where I was born in South Africa but cannot get a license to operate Starlink because I'm not black. Does that seem right to you?”

‘Very Difficult for Corporations to Surrender 30% Ownership’—US Ambassador Criticizes South Africa's 30% Black Ownership Rule Saying It's Blocking Billions in Investment
US Ambassador to South Africa L. Brent Bozell III has said the United States wants to invest billions in the country but faces a major hurdle with policies requiring businesses to surrender 30% ownership to black South Africans. He raised the issue when he was speaking to journalists in Pretoria while acknowledging the nation's history of inequality.
Bozell spoke at a business event in Hermanus. He stated that the United States is ready to pour money into investments, with both the private sector and government involved. "It's very difficult for...a major corporation to come here and be told it has to surrender 30% of its ownership, or some such thing," he said. He added that corporations have a moral duty to invest in South Africa's future beyond capital.
In response to a journalist's question about respecting South Africa's sovereignty and laws, Bozell replied that the United States does not question South Africa's right to set its own policies. However, he noted that America will speak up when policies affect its national interests or security concerns.
Bozell stressed that the primary issue is respect for private property rights. He recognized South Africa's emergence from an unequal system but maintained that forced ownership transfers create barriers to large-scale investment from US companies. The comments highlight ongoing tensions in bilateral relations.

It seems the ANC and its councillors in Emfuleni local municipality doesn’t care anymore about the area. It has been a mess for a long time. Various premiers myself included have tried everything to no avail: administration, new mayors. Its getting worse ewn.co.za/2026/04/07/emf…

🇿🇦🇺🇳 The United Nations has ruled that South Africa violated fair trial rights in the Boeremag case, placing the country under international pressure to provide redress and compensation within 180 days.
The Boeremag was a group of White Afrikaner men convicted on charges including treason, terrorism, and sabotage, linked to early 2000s attacks, and planning to establish a separate Afrikaner republic.
The trial began in 2003 and ran for over a decade.
