Why new doctors aren’t specializing in infectious diseases unmc.edu/healthsecurity… same articles every year , always same conclusion: overworked , underpaid, "cerebral" blah blah. Nothing changes

An alert driver was able to avoid a serious collision on State Route 54 in snowy Osage Beach, Missouri, after a pickup truck lost control while entering the highway. abcnews.link/vu1c5Op

Americans are getting crushed by health insurance with monthly payments of $1500, $1700, and over $2000 per month.
Instead of a revolving door of foreign government leaders to the White House, I’d like to see Health Insurance CEOs in there getting chewed out on live television.
Health Insurance is out of control!!!

@TheViditsharma Can you tell us what fuels your mindset? Animals are great in wild. Domesticating them is against the nature too

@GabbbarSingh I was bit by a stray dog while enjoying evening walk. Had to take fucking whole rabies series plus infiltration serum. And still have big scar on my leg. No matter what you say dogs do not belong to streets. Take your dog inside or keep them wild.

In 2023, the U.S. spent approximately $1.35 trillion on healthcare administration. That’s more than we spent on:
•Physician salaries (~$350B)
•Nursing salaries (~$335B)
•Retail prescription drugs (~$450B)
•Imaging, lab tests, EHRs, and outpatient procedures combined
•Even capital investment in hospitals and equipment
All the while, clinicians are being told to “do more with less.”
Every cost-saving initiative aimed at doctors adds layers of compliance and complexity which only fuels the unchecked growth of bureaucracy.

Medicare Advantage plans got a 5 % raise today. Yet the Doctors, who are the ones who actually care for the patients GET CUT every year. This is RIDICULOUS. cms.gov/newsroom/fact-…

Dear @elonmusk, I wanted you to be aware of the racket that goes on in medicine.
To sum it up, here is a case example.
When I fix a distal radius bone fracture - 45 minutes to 1 hr of highly skilled intricate work:
1. Doctor makes 750.
2. Hardware I put in costs 3000 plus roughly 10 screws, each costing 100 bucks
3. The destributor of that hardware makes half on that hardware cost.
4. The manufacturer makes the other half
5. The hospital/ambulatory surgical center makes 6-7x what I make.
I took majority of the risk.
I went to school for 14 years, after high school.
Global period is 90 days during which, I make no money taking care of this patient.
I make no money waking up at night answering patient questions of varying significance, mostly, ones that have already been answered.
Tell me what dumbass will go into medicine now?

@HPhobiaWatch She is good. Indians have not seen real tax burden from other countries .

@MattCover Yeah right anyone can make that much . That's like 62 million per year pay for 40 hours per week.

I do healthcare consulting for a living.
It is simple math that we cannot reduce healthcare costs in this country without reducing the amounts we pay doctors and hospitals.
Dr's cannot make $30k/hour in an affordable system.

This is, btw, why the fantasies of getting US costs down to European levels through the power of single payer will never work. Governments are more vulnerable to this sort of pressure than private companies are, not less. "Call your congresscritter and ask them why they want patients to die!" is a super effective ad.
