As I leave Rome today, I do so with profound gratitude for all the encounters, and all that I have received, over these days of pilgrimage. From the warm welcome from our Catholic brothers and sisters, to praying and worship with Anglicans and Catholics, to seeing churches supporting those in need. I’m particularly grateful to Pope Leo XIV for his welcome, his words of hope, and the opportunity to pray together. It’s been a privilege to reaffirm the friendship and bonds of affection between our Churches that have grown over recent decades. May God bless our ongoing pilgrimage as we seek the unity that Christ prayed for. In our divided world, Christians must have a more hopeful story and keep modelling something different - walking and working together to serve the world that God loves. Whatever may divide us, the love of Jesus Christ is greater. Our world needs the Gospel, and we are called to share it together. I leave Rome today with gratitude and prayers for all the people I have met and for continuing friendship and partnership - and with a renewed sense of the reality that in Christ we are one.

A great read. Lovely to be at the launch of the Bp of Sheffield’s new book tonight. An insightful glimpse at the life and experience of contemporary migrants interspersed with the book of Ruth. @PeteWilcox1564

It was an honour to meet and pray with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV @Pontifex this morning. I’m deeply grateful for his gracious welcome at the Apostolic Palace. In the years to come, I will remain united with the Pope in prayer – for peace in our world, for justice, and for every person to discover the fullness of life that God offers. The ecumenical pilgrimage is always one we make together, as a fellowship of Christians seeking the unity for which Christ prayed. Your Holiness, as your sister in Christ, in a spirit of prayer, friendship, and hope, I commend our shared journey into the hands of God. Lunch with a community of Roman Catholic sisters keen to talk about their admiration for Archbishop Mullally. They care for the sick and were struck by the symbolism of her nurse's belt buckle having been reused to hold together her cope, honouring the vocation to serve and heal.

“I am Sarah, a servant of Jesus Christ.. I come knowing nothing except Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and in weakness and fear and in much trembling.” I was just feet away from this moment in @CburyCathedral 13 years ago (this very week) for the Installation of Justin Welby. Steeped in history and transcendent significance, it is spine-tingling.

Rumours are not facts. People seeking asylum undergo security and identity checks by the Home Office, including fingerprinting and checks against national and international databases. 👉 Read and share the facts: liverpoolexpress.co.uk/vawg/

@WalkerMarcus Absolutely correct! As a lawyer, I be looked into it as a matter of interest it is deliberately very complicated indeed. The Abdication crisis was not supposed to happen ever again. Every generation of the Royals seems to have a bad'un. Would have been Duke of Kent had he lived

Today at @Synod, I spoke about poverty and the Church, reflecting on 40 years since the Faith in the City report was first published. We give thanks for the enduring impact of that report and we recommit ourselves to ending poverty in all its forms. You can read more about it here: churchofengland.org/media/news-and…
