Months were spent rewriting every component of the @Meow application from scratch. Today, it just shipped for all of our customers and includes: - faster load times - a unified experience across the product - a codebase that allows our AI coding agent to better ingest, write, and review code We've already seen a nearly 3x velocity increase on all feature development.

Every agent launch video talks about what the agent does. It "understands you", "analyses your CRM", "drafts emails", yada yada. this is a classic marketing mistake where people talk about the "features" instead of talking about the user journey. Agent products should focus on what the user's life would look like when they use your agents. Your messaging can't abstract away the complexity of using the product. For example, when companies say "our agents handle all the work while you sleep", or "meet the night shift". Both you and your users know it's a lie. If your agents work for me while I sleep, then tell me how do I check the work they are doing. Tell me how they notify me about the work done. Tell me how I can steer them and teach them over time. Show me my future life when I use your product.

It's undeniable that there's a lot of stigma against open-source models. LLM routers are a low-risk, lightweight way for US companies to test them out while keeping the models they're already comfortable with. The model might be built overseas, but it's running in the US. Where the model came from and where your data goes are two separate things. You can turn on zero data retention, route only to hosts that have ZDR pre-negotiated, and keep everything in the US or other pre-approved regions. Inference runs on US hosts like Baseten, Fireworks, and Bedrock.

It’s well within Anthropic’s rights to compete in any market they choose. What’s funny, in this instance, are the number of Pharma companies, who through their unchecked use of Anthropic, are driving revenues into what they think is a model provider but is in fact a competitor lurking in the shadows thereby accelerating their own demise. I suspect any end market with reasonable ROCE that could be AI accelerated is on the table. If I were them, I’d probably do the same.

we're at a point in time where hiring for any senior technical role in SF is near impossible for a startup, we're hearing "i'd just stay in the [lab name] and keep making a few mil a year for now" every time. We do really need more H1Bs/O1s to move here
