The whole nonsense of inspection needs ripping down. Emperor’s New Clothes. It’s all horseshit - reaching valid/reliable high stakes judgements about a school based on a short visit by strangers who couldn’t do a better job but presume to judge. What a job .. demoralise a community of professionals with zero responsibility for the fallout and then leave, spouting crap about being champions of disadvantaged children. The delusion of it. 😡

I think it bears, repeating, I don’t care if you’re not entertained by how Arsenal go about winning their first title in 22 years. That’s a you problem. And I guarantee you if your team were trying to win a title you wouldn’t care either.

📉 Wait lists have fallen again by 43k in January - 374k in 18 months. 🚑 Fastest ambulance response in 5 years, down to less than 29 mins for heart attacks and stroke 🏥 A&E waits the shortest for four years despite a hugely demanding winter Lots done, lots more to do.

Another unexpected opportunity 2026 threw my way: I got the call to be on @Jeopardy! Tune in next Thursday, March 19 (or March 20 on Hulu or Peacock), to watch me on the Alex Trebek Stage! sixcolors.com/post/2026/03/i…

Resigned my job to write a book reviewing pork pies. I was 2 months into my research when I realised that no-one's going to drive from Truro to Rugby, even if there's a baker there doing an absolutely fabulous pie. They're all just pork and jelly in pastry, really.

@DavidDidau @SaysMiss "creativity" is probably the most mis-applied concept in education. And I don't say that lightly.

Do schools kill creativity?” It’s a seductive story. But creativity isn’t a free-floating spark waiting to be protected from schooling. It grows from knowledge, constraint, revision and judgement. Far from killing creativity, schools breathe life into it. Link below ⬇️

Am I crazy to think that Max Dowman could be a difference maker in our attack for the remainder of the season? The dude plays like he’s been in the league for years. We need his confidence and ability to push us to the end, especially when our attack gets stale.

@michaelgove @adamboultonTABB State school English Lit GCSEs are all closed-book and rely on memorization. Private schools may take the IGCSE which is open-book and kinder to students in many other respects. Rigour for thee but not for me.

The thing that's always bothered me about the short story where the wife kills her husband with a frozen leg of lamb and then serves the roasted leg to the cops is that it would be so hard to cook from frozen. I want to know her cooking method. I'm not married.

Why am I against screen-based assessments? This change will warp teaching practice for the worse. I guarantee it. More & more lesson time will be devoted to putting classes in front of screens. School leaders will feel pressure to prepare pupils which 1/
Pritesh Raichura@Mr_Raichura

I urge everyone to fill this in. Screen-based assessments will be a disaster for England’s schools. The entire proposal is absurd & a complete waste of taxpayer money. 30% of students fail Eng / Maths: invest in this instead. 😡 ofqual.citizenspace.com/public/regulat…

@Mathew_Lynch44 @joe__kirby If you visit lots of schools you will see there are thousands of children in Year 11 who cannot read fluently or even know their times tables. This is not even close to a grade 4 ‘pass’. That doesn’t have to be true & could shift results up. Screen assessments will not help this.
