@Jmrheating 0% loans and required scop to be cost neutral to run. Fed up of energy companies profiteering by putting in 2.8spf heat pumps (or worse in reality).

The first EPC we've seen where the Heat Pump has contributed to an A! Still only "Good" but an improvement at least 😍

@ActualKryten Nearly had to upgrade the warmometer to amber, but it would have meant changing the bulb.....

@Tonywalkden @betateach @_heatgeek @rippin_ian Weather compensation is not more difficult on heat pumps, it's basically the same if you are used to low temperature system design. We have completed a few hundred heat pump projects in the last year or so, a handful had buffers and they all exceed average efficiency.

@Patrickswheeler @betateach @_heatgeek @rippin_ian I'm no pro, but I would say weather compensation is probably more difficult or less effective for a heat pump than a gas boiler? Maybe not a buffer required in every instance, ie smaller systems with high turndown, but probably a good idea for larger systems with varying demand?

Couple of our engineers have been training this week, the BPEC course they're on has some questionable advice - Weather compensation is difficult, buffers are always required, use Nest or Hive to increase scop.... Who's training the trainers?! @betateach @_heatgeek @rippin_ian

@bobbyllew Everything I do in my work and personal life pushes towards removing reliance on fossil fuels, I do however realise that (mainly through lack of historic investment) we will unfortunately need fossil fuels for decades Whether it's "securing supply" or profit is the big question

@suburbanpirate Hopefully by continuing to make everyone aware just how bad an idea it is, we can make a little difference.

@Patrickswheeler Hi Patrick. The fear is that subsidies will mask the true cost, at least I think that is what the gas industry has been banking on/hoping for.

Once (if) we have sufficient green supply of electricity that we can start storing Hydrogen, it will be bought by the highest bidder. That highest bidder isn't going to then put it in the gas grid to sell at domestic rates. hydrogeninsight.com/production/tot…
