One of the funniest little surprises when traveling is discovering that even simple things like electrical plugs can be completely different. Many Europeans and Americans are surprised when they realize their devices don’t always connect the same way in another country. These small differences remind us how unique everyday life can be around the world. Something as ordinary as charging a phone can become a quick lesson in culture, design, and adaptation. Travel is full of these small discoveries that make experiences memorable. Who would have thought a simple plug could start a conversation between people from different countries?

@LeahRain77 Why not just charge the right amount and pay your workers properly so tips are not needed? Pay a living wage and charge accordingly.

We have a case of tip fatigue here . This woman ordered an 8 dollar pre made sandwich. After she paid, the associate asked her why she didn’t tip as she made her sandwich . She responded to her that it was her job to make sandwiches and got paid accordingly. I see this situation from both sides. I worked my way through college as a hairstylist and there were many times when I did really good work and spent a lot of time with the customer and they were very happy and wound up not tipping however, by the same coin, I understand this situation is different. They are paid to make the sandwiches and they’ve gotten so used to getting tipped that when somebody doesn’t they’re shocked I guess. The store associate was way out of line for asking her about the tip, though in my opinion. She never should’ve brought it up. It’s very unprofessional. What are your thoughts on this subject?

To the Metropolitan Police, You were the gold standard. The model every nation copied. When Scotland Yard spoke, criminals listened. That badge meant integrity. It meant courage. It meant the law applied equally, without fear or favour. Look at you now. You are a punchline. A cautionary tale. A force that clears up fewer than one in ten burglaries while your officers film TikTok videos in uniform. You arrested a man in Lancashire at dawn for a Facebook post in 2024 while grooming gangs operated in Rochdale for years with barely a raised eyebrow. You invented non-crime hate incidents so you could harass pensioners for wrongthink while real victims wait on hold. You kneeled for mobs in 2020 while statues fell and businesses burned. You stood aside while extremists marched with impunity, then raided homes over memes. You have turned the oldest police force in the world into a politicised enforcement squad for the narrative, not the public. You chose diversity dashboards over clear-up rates. You chose community engagement over enforcement. You chose the approval of NGOs and Twitter mobs over the safety of the people who pay your wages. You chose feelings over facts, and political safety over actual policing. You did not lose your way. You sold it. Slowly, deliberately, one diversity training course at a time, one apology tweet at a time, one decision to stand down while crime happened in front of you. The British people see you now. We see the double standards. We see the collapse in basic standards. We see a force that looks more like political commissars than police officers. We see officers who remember their oath sidelined while the ideologues get promoted. You wanted to be political enforcers. Congratulations. You got your wish. Now you get treated like political operatives. No more benefit of the doubt. No more automatic respect. You burned that. The mask is off. The receipts are published. The record is being kept. We are watching.

@AverageJayX @EssexPR @cheekyblinder11 No you are wrong. Setting up a VPN on your own home router is very easy and trust me a determined 15 yo will figure it out. All devices attached to that Wifi router will be behind the VPN so all apps will see the device wherever the VPN is set.

@Hollybarrgirl @dragonsticks @orlaminihane @NadineDorries So yes I was right. An animal will suffer far more taking it to a vet especially in a rural setting. A shotgun can not miss and it ends the life of the pet instantly with 0 pain and 0 fear. No animal likes going to a vet as the vet is fear and pain.

But "a bullet is faster" doesn't automatically mean every shooting is more humane than every veterinary euthanasia. The relevant question is which method produces the least suffering most reliably. A misplaced shot can cause severe suffering just as a badly performed euthanasia can.

He thought a stranger cocking a shotgun in the face of his loyal 17yo Labrador, was a more ‘humane’ way to end his days than to take him to the vet. How can anyone vote for this man? mol.im/a/15901733

@Hollybarrgirl @dragonsticks @orlaminihane @NadineDorries A bullet is far faster. The animal will suffer all of the time it takes to get it to the vet and then the animal can take some time to die after the injection. Also if the vet gets the dose wrong the animal can suffer even more.

🇬🇧 Starmer's turning the UK into an authoritarian dictatorship, where people are too scared to speak out Its planned social media ban is being sold as child protection. Look closer and it affects every adult too. To keep under-16s off X, TikTok, YouTube and the rest, everyone has to prove they're over 16. That means tying your ID to your accounts. We've seen where this leads. Under the existing Online Safety Act, sites like Imgur and several adult platforms simply blocked all UK users rather than handle the verification. Civil liberties groups like the Open Rights Group are already warning about who holds that data and how it's protected. Set that against a country with a track record of arresting people over online posts, and the worry writes itself. When your name is attached to everything you say, you start watching what you say. It's the oldest trick in the authoritarian playbook, the same instinct that kept people quiet under every communist regime of the last century. Starmer calls it protecting children. Funny how the protection always seems to involve knowing exactly who said what. And the people who do speak out and stand up, like Tommy Robinson? He was arrested under the Terrorism Act so police could seize his devices and see who he's been communicating with. The UK is slipping into tyranny, and the voices that can speak out will soon be silenced. Sources: NPR, The Register, @TRobinsonNewEra / Writers: Julie, Ian

Pavel Durov on teen social media bans: "Banning social media for teenagers only puts them in greater danger. Teens are forced to switch to VPNs — and unlock far worse illegal content." Governments keep reaching for the ban because it looks decisive. That's just the laziest and most counterproductive version of the solution. Source: @durov / Writer: Oliver

“This censorship law is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.” Elon Musk fires back after the UK announced an under-16 social media ban set for early 2027 — with officials also eyeing curfews and limits on infinite scrolling for people under 18. His warning: this isn’t just about kids. It could force age checks on everyone.

🚨Tech Secretary Signals Fresh Assault on Privacy: “We’re Coming Back for More” With VPN Bans and Extra Measures 💬 🚫 Starmer’s regime is barreling toward full-blown authoritarian control and they’re not even hiding it anymore. Just days after rushing out a blanket social media ban for under-16s, the Tech Secretary is already on the airwaves admitting they’ve got no real answers on enforcement… yet proudly announcing “further statements in July” on VPN restrictions, curfews, chatbots, and more crackdowns. Before the first ban is even rolled out. This isn’t about protecting kids. It’s a thirst for surveillance and censorship. They want zero privacy. They want to know exactly what you’re doing and saying online at all times. Age verification, facial scans, VPN blocks – the infrastructure of a digital police state. Starmer is an authoritarian with no real mandate, racing to ram this through before the public boots him out. No detailed plan, no proper scrutiny, just more control. This country is being f*cked by a government obsessed with power over people.
