I have been against a TikTok ban for a long time, because it goes against freedom of speech. That said, the current situation where TikTok is allowed to operate in America, but 𝕏 is not allowed to operate in China is unbalanced. Something needs to change.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

In my opinion, TikTok should not be banned in the USA, even though such a ban may benefit the 𝕏 platform. Doing so would be contrary to freedom of speech and expression. It is not what America stands for.

🔥🚨BREAKING: White House chef Rush just revealed that he has prepared a Tomahawk steak for Donald Trump as he returns to the White House. It is worth nothing Chef Rush is also the only Black chef to survive after working for the Obamas.

Need help urgently. Please post the best examples of lib meltdowns in the thread below. I'm deeply concerned that I may be missing some of the best ones. I don't want to miss any because they make me very happy. Thank you.

There's no need. The name of the file that provided the data shared, is called the qualified VOTER file. It's publicly available if you fill out a form and pick up the data in person. The fact that it shows all records for that voter ID updated with the same voting date, proves the system works and will prevent that person from going out and voting again with a different address. I would be really concerned if it didn't. That is not the same as votes.

To everyone sharing claims that the Qualified Voter File (QVF) posted by Matthew DePerno shows 114,545 voters casting 279,113 ballots in Michigan: this is blatant misinformation. The QVF does NOT track votes. It only records addresses and previous addresses of qualified voters. Michigan’s QVF maintains accurate voter information, updated through sources like driver’s license updates, voter registrations, address changes, and public benefits applications. Previous addresses are retained to ensure the integrity of voter records. The QVF does not display individual votes. Matthew DePerno, an attorney, knows this and is spreading propaganda.
Matthew S. DePerno, Esq.@mdeperno

After reviewing the Qualified Voter File (QVF) of votes actually cast as of yesterday, Oct 29, 2024, the database identifies 114,545 Michigan voters who have cast 279,113 ballots from multiple addresses across the state. This results in 164,568 excess ballots as of 10/29/2024. Below is one Voter ID. @GOP @elonmusk

BREAKING: The Republican responsible for setting fire to Arizona ballot drop boxes has been caught. He’s the one behind burning ballots, trying to sabotage the voting process. Looks like his little plan backfired, and now he's going to face the consequences.

@ArmandDoma She has showed up at every other podcasters place with no issue. It’s the biggest platform by far. They have no confidence in her ability to perform so they are placing it all on Rogan. Not hard to figure out.

I still think Kamala should go on Rogan, despite him being a diva about this, but good lord how entitled do you have to be to not be even a tiny bit flexible for someone who could likely be the next POTUS in the last week of the election!

A 21-year-old follower recently messaged me for career advice. Here are the 10 pieces of career advice I shared: 1. Work in different verticals — I learned social networks at Facebook, finance at Mint, and now tech tools at AppSumo. The more diverse your experiences, the more you meet interesting people and learn transferable skills. 2. Geography matters — If you want to play in the major leagues, you’ve got to BE in the major leagues and surround yourself with A players in your field. I grew up 2 miles from the Apple campus where I was surrounded by people working on startups. • So, if you want to be in tech? Go to the Bay Area. • Aspiring country singer? Go to Nashville. • Trying to get into acting? Go to LA. Go where it’s happening. And if you can’t be there physically yet, figure out how to get it online first, like connecting with people who are already there. 3. Learn outside of your skillset — Those who combine multiple skills have enormous leverage. For me, I’ve been into chess and flying planes. I learned foresight and preparedness which I applied to content creation. Another example, we started doing giveaways at @appsumo after being inspired by women’s magazines. It was only because we were looking outside our core skill set and demographic that gave us new ideas. Find inspiration outside and bring it inside. 4. Document your learning online — I started blogging in 2000 when I used to have hair (lol). Not only will it help you process what you’ve learned, but you’ll build your brand and meet cool people. And when people get to know and like you online, they’ll come to you with ideas and even job offers, rather than you having to go begging with a resume. 5. Go after the biggest failures — Too many people are scared of failing. They don’t realize that you need to push to this point to get the biggest possible growth and learning. In my career, almost everything has not worked. But you need to keep pushing because you only have to be right once to build a successful business. So don’t punish yourself for failure, reward yourself for trying…and even reward yourself for failing. Every failure is one step closer to winning. 6. Find someone who has walked your ideal path — If you can find a mentor (and make it worth their while), who is ahead of you in life, it’s way easier to see if that’s what you want too. You’ll save yourself many mistakes. 7. Figure out what you are an expert in — Find your superpower then 10x it. Surround yourself (or hire people) to complement your weaknesses. I’m great at igniting and marketing, but have struggled with consistency and sticking with things that get boring. So I’ve surrounded myself with people who move forward in the things that I’m not good at. 8. Chase opportunities, but slow down for success — In your 20s, go try a bunch of stuff. But when you find the thing that works, slow down and enjoy it. In my 20s, I chased to become a millionaire for about 3 years with Facebook games and payments, but hated it. When my company got sued and banned by Facebook, it sounds terrible but I was actually relieved. It gave me the excuse to go try other more fulfilling things. It’s too easy to give up on things that you don’t care about. So when you’ve found something you really like, stick with it. 9. Learn for the next step and keep leveling up — Every step in a career can either go up, down, or sideways. Be intentional that you are leveling up at each step. For me, I leveled up from payments to marketing, then deals and software tools with @appsumo and that turned into educational content on my YouTube channel. 10. Be the hub — I’d bet 80% of my net worth is because of relationships and people I know. When I graduated UC Berkeley in 2004, I started hosting dinners, beer meetups, and conferences…even when I didn’t know anyone. I wanted to become the hub. The interesting people I helped and connected at the time, like @ramit, @tferriss, and @ryanholiday ended up helping me 15 years down the line. One way to start: Spend at least one hour a week just meeting and helping people with no expectations. What else is good career advice that every young person should hear? If this could help someone you know, share it with them and follow me @noahkagan for more!

@elonmusk Support this step! I appreciate your willingness to adjust quickly in response to the will of the people. That said, I do think it's important to also allow mastodon links again. Social platforms should succeed and fail based on their merit.
