You are denying and distorting basic reality because acknowledging it would destroy your argument. Until you admit what is actually happening on the ground, I am not wasting time on your points 2 and 3. People have been chanting “Javid Shah” and “Pahlavi barmigarde” in nearly every major and small city. He called for protests last Thursday and Friday and millions answered. Show one video, one city, one crowd chanting for another opposition figure. You cannot, because there is none. And stop lying by pretending support for him equals monarchy. There many people who are seeking a republic that back him. They support him because he is the only figure with reach, recognition, and the ability to mobilize people. People inside Iran have been living under total internet shutdowns, repression, and isolation. Instead of amplifying their voices and letting the world hear what they are clearly demanding, you are busy denying their reality from the comfort of the outside. You had 47 years to produce an alternative leader. You failed. And now, at the most critical moment, you spend your energy attacking the only person capable of mass mobilization instead of the regime. That is not neutrality and it is not principled criticism. It objectively serves the interests of Khamenei and the Islamic Republic. At that point, whether you admit it or not, you’re doing Khamenei’s job for him. At best, this makes you a fool. At worst, it makes you a traitor.

@kasra_m1 @_jvd9 @TheEconomist Living a fantasy. Bullshit and you know it. 1. Just because some have called his name in no way indicates most Iranians want him. 2. He wants true democracy but will decide who joins his parliament? 3. He doesn’t have what it takes nor has he set the proper groundwork:
Esfandyar Batmanghelidj@yarbatman

Here's a list of things I think @PahlaviReza should have done in the last few weeks, if not in the last few decades. He did not do these things because he is incapable of leading a political organization, let alone a political transition: • Structuring his communications around a daily broadcast at a set time to give the protest movement a tempo while using consistent visuals to impress a sense of control • Proving the existence of an actual political organization by foregrounding staff and surrogates in external communications • Rejecting “Javid Shah” as a political slogan and ensuring messaging creates a basis for broad solidarity • Prioritizing the longevity of the protest movement by calling for non-violent resistance, disciplined mobilization, and reiterating that protestors should remain safe, including by using methods such as “stay-at-home” strikes or gatherings outside of city centers • Showing contrition for the huge loss of life and honoring slain protestors sensitively to avoid instrumentalizing their deaths • Condemning infighting within the diaspora and insisting on a political culture based on inclusivity and tolerance • Establishing a new membership-based political organization with an elected executive body to coordinate activities across opposition groups • Disciplining or ejecting members who do not adhere to a code of conduct • Adopting a title that relates to his elected role in this political organization, de-emphasizing the title of “crown prince” • Reaffirming a commitment to the principles of the Women, Life, Freedom and uplifting the leaders of that movement • Highlighting the compatibility of his proposals with those of Iranian opposition figures within Iran, calling for their release from prison, and underscoring his readiness to work with them, especially those on the left • Rejecting a political vision based on nostalgia while privileging members of the recent diaspora over those whose families left Iran decades ago • Fundraising to provide emergency support human rights groups so they have enough capacity for documentation of unprecedented state violence • Fundraising to pay for legal expenses and medical bills for families impacted during the protests • Lobbying the Trump administration and European governments to continue processing Iranian visas to enable individuals to escape prosecution or to seek medical attention in the United States • Lobbying the Trump administration to enable Iranian Americans to send remittances to Iran to support family members facing economic hardship • Demonstrating real leadership rather than groveling for Trump and Graham and other figures to act There are other things I wish he would do, but know he cannot, such as disavow the support of Netanyahu (a war criminal) and reject military intervention. But the point of this list, which is far from exhaustive, is to highlight how far we are from having an effective political opposition. This is largely because of Pahlavi’s failure to foster the necessary political culture and to build the necessary political institutions. He is talking about his readiness to lead a caretaker government before he has even formed a political party, committee, or congress. I suspect that any US intelligence assessments about his capacity to lead will note this failing. If Machado, with her deep organizing experience, couldn't win the trust of the Trump administration, how can Pahlavi? Moreover, the overwhelming focus on his prospects has clouded the international community’s understanding of the Iranian opposition and crowded out support for other leaders and forms of leadership within Iran. Pahlavi has been so fixated on his position, he forgot the process, and that is deeply unfortunate.

You are a separatist, which is why your opinion is irrelevant. Across the country, our people have been chanting one name, which is his, consistently and unmistakably. You’ve had 47 years to decide who represents you, but you couldn’t name one because you believe in a fabricated country rather than the real one in front of you. So respectfully, STFU!

“Is it responsible to be sending citizens in Iran to their deaths? Do you bear some responsibility?” CBS News’ @NorahODonnell asks Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as the protest death toll grows in the country. “This is a war, and war has casualties. In fact, in order to preserve and protect and minimize the death toll, minimize innocent victims yet again being killed by this regime, action is needed,” Pahlavi says.

Yes, we should support the women of Iran who are deprived of universal human rights - however, your brand of selective feminism is not feminism. It’s cynical posturing to cover for the fact that you (and others) have abandoned the women and girls of Palestine/Gaza during an ongoing genocide; their universal human rights have been trampled on for decades. It’s a facet of privileged-white feminism that you choose to highlight the plight of women of colour when it won’t cost you a thing by way of book deals, adulation or status. Until you educate yourself about intersectionality - and walk the talk - you’re in no position to preach about “revealing yourself”.

The situation in #IranProtests - short summary: A. First of all, we must remember - there is a lot of disinformation, mainly from elements who seek to establish the understanding that "the regime is breathing its last breaths." Reports of the collapse of cities, the defection of senior officials, and the preparation of a refuge for the Iranian supreme leader in Russia are part of an ongoing effort to create the feeling that the regime is just days away from collapse. B. What do we know? The regime has no intention of giving up. #Khamenei 's speech yesterday likely signaled a significant increase in the regime's repressive efforts, and so it appears that there were serious clashes between protesters and regime officials tonight. C. The regime's main problem remains - it is unable to stop the protests even after measures such as cutting off the internet. This fact and the increase in repression efforts will probably lead to a significant increase in the number of casualties in the coming days. But even if the protests calm down, the regime's situation will still be extremely complicated. D. It should be remembered that the regime in Iran has a stable support base. It should be noted that over 13 million people voted for the ultra-conservative candidate - #Jalili - in the last presidential election. Such a support base constitutes a support for the regime and the activities of the Basij and Revolutionary Guards. These are not going to disappear easily. E. And yet, given the fact that the regime is not a "Monolith," it is likely that behind the scenes there are struggles regarding the policy that the regime should adopt. This fact is important because, contrary to the expectation that the regime will collapse in one day, the high probability right now is actually for changes within it, whether a dramatic change in policy led by figures like President Pazhakian, Ali Larijani eith the support of former President#Rouhani, or extreme changes in the regime's policy if the IRGC takes responsibility for the country. F. In the background, it should be remembered that there is no real opposition to the regime inside Iran, while outside Iran the opposition is conflicted and weak, perhaps challenging the regime on a symbolic level (calls for the return of the monarchy) but influence on on the ground except spreading disinformation in massive numbers. G. We must also remember that quite a few Iranians who oppose the regime fear the collapse of the regime into a vacuum that will lead to instability in the country, along with fears of Iran disintegrating into provinces. This fact is especially important if the current government can offer something that is not the current policy. In other words, there are many people who oppose the regime but at the same time are very afraid of their fate if this regime collapses. H. The Achilles heel of the Iranian security system is the army. It is doubtful that we will see any defections in the Revolutionary Guards in light of their deep commitment to the regime, but the army is precisely the body that will be challenged given a significant escalation in the regime's repressive efforts. I. Against the backdrop of the expected dramatic increase in repression efforts, the dilemma in Washington will worsen regarding the question of their involvement and support for the protesters in light of President Trump's statements on the subject. But let us not be surprised that the administration could take advantage of the current situation and once again offer Iran (as it did during the war) a new diplomatic agreement in which Iran forgo enriching uranium on its territory. Bottom line: The regime is been challenged with an unprecedented demonstrations, perhaps the most serious since the 1979 revolution. But those expecting a rerun of Syria case may be disappointed, as the regime still has significant pockets of support that will lead a tough crackdown in the coming days. Based on the protesters' reactions, significant changes may be taking place within the government ranks before any collapse that might not occur...
