Lahore: March 23, 2026. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with H.E. Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, today. The Prime Minister extended Eid ul Fitr and Nowruz greetings to the Iranian President, and the brotherly people of Iran. The feelings were warmly reciprocated by the Iranian President, who also conveyed his best wishes for the people of Pakistan. As a neighbouring brotherly country of Iran, the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the brave Iranian people in the wake of the ongoing hostilities. He expressed deep condolences over the loss of precious lives and prayed for early recovery and safety of those injured and displaced. The Prime Minister also conveyed his serious concern over the dangerous ongoing hostilities in the Gulf region. In view of this grave situation, the Prime Minister underscored the urgent need to work collectively for de-escalation and a return to dialogue and diplomacy amongst all the neighbouring countries to settle their differences. He stressed upon the critical importance of unity in the ranks of the Ummah, that was required more than ever before. While sharing with the Iranian President the diplomatic outreach efforts of Pakistan’s leadership, the Prime Minister assured the Iranian leadership that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in facilitating peace in the region.

We strongly reject Afghan Taliban propaganda. Pakistan’s actions have been precise, targeting terrorist infrastructure, facilitators, and the fitna al Khawarij involved in attacks inside Pakistan. It is concerning that UNAMA relies on unverified Taliban claims. Pakistan will continue to act decisively to protect its people.

Pakistan has precisely targeted military installations and terrorist support infrastructure, including technical equipment storage and ammunition storage of Afghan Taliban in Kabul and Nangarhar that were being used against innocent Pakistani civilians

I am deeply saddened by the latest reports of civilian casualties as a result of Pakistani airstrikes in Kabul. Targeting civilian homes, educational facilities or medical infrastructure, either intentional or by mistake, is a war crime. The sheer disregard for human lives, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, is sickening and deeply concerning. It will only fuel division and hatred. I call upon the UN and other human rights agencies to thoroughly investigate this latest atrocity and hold the perpetrators to account. I stand with my Afghan people in this difficult time. We shall heal, and we will rise as a nation. We always do. Inshallah ! 🇦🇫

Had a warm and most cordial telephone conversation with H.E. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today. I congratulated him on the successful constitutional referendum, reflecting the trust of the Kazakh people in his leadership and reform agenda. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to deepening Pakistan–Kazakhstan ties, especially in trade, connectivity and regional cooperation. We also exchanged views on regional developments and agreed that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential for lasting peace and stability. Extended warm greetings to President Tokayev and the brotherly people of Kazakhstan on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, with best wishes for their continued peace and prosperity.

My sons Sulaiman & @kasim_khan_1999 applied for visas in January (again… ) to allow them to visit their father @ImranKhanPTI in Pakistan. The Pakistan consulate states that online visa processing normally takes 7–10 working days. It has now been 60 days. This despite the public promise that they could safely travel there to see their father after 4 years, made by both Defence Minister @khawajaMAsif to @mehdirhasan & PM spokesperson @mosharrafzaidi to @SkyYaldaHakim Meanwhile, they are not allowed to speak to him on the phone, nor send him a letter. They haven’t seen him since 2022 after he was shot in an assassination attempt. This is an appeal directly to Pakisan’s PM @CMShehbaz to please allow Imran Khan’s two sons to see their father asap, particularly since, by all accounts, his health is in decline.
