@afewsmalbeers I’ve seen this film twice (Once in IMAX and once at a regular theatre)
And I noticed the same issue when seeing it at the theatre.
English

@BuffReview @TheBlackHorse65 Check out the M4 Fan edit! Watched it with some friends, and was blown away by how much better the movies are when all the fluff is cut out!

@TheBlackHorse65 It should have been ONE wholesome, magical movie, not stretched into an action-packed trilogy. The Hobbit is a fairy tale, ffs.
English

We were too soft on it; these films are absolute abominations.
Tolkien World@TolkienWorldG
Were we too harsh on the Hobbit Trilogy?
English

@Plompy_Rotation @Touyarokii Technically, deleted data. Even if deleted in terminal. Is still on the disk. It’s simply been marked as “available to be overwritten” by the system.
English

@Touyarokii They had an entire episode for all the fake-outs, don't think they'd do it again. Some people mentioned the idea of him being in the recycle bin but when you delete something using a command line it just gets deleted entirely so that wouldn't make sense either

@ShellShock_Mk1 @deadly_melodic Definitely looks like some sort of corkscrew traction system.
Just like this: youtu.be/M7LRAWO9Lso?si…

@deadly_melodic i saw some people theorize it rolls along the ground using these bits
is that true or?
idk how subs work

@KirbyCheatFurby I remember a while back someone at Valve sent Tyler Mcvicker a Big Pink Cookie as a gift.
English

@shemboar @IpecacRec You’re right, shipping is considerably cheaper.
I’ll try and reach out to see if I can cancel my order.
Thanks for that!
English

@Pendleton115 @IpecacRec Might have been better off getting it from the European store? ipecac.tmstor.es

@SebAaltonen @mdhardeman My reaction when a device with “Pro” in the name has ports that cater to a professional user.
English

@mdhardeman Exactly. A non-standard port that was useful for a small slice of the laptop user base and only supported by professional devices designed for that field. Thankfully we have USB-C 4.0 nowadays. All the industry behind the same standard. Does everything: power, video, audio, data.
English

I am glad Apple did cut all the non-standard ports like firewire and mini-DP. Almost no device supported those. Now my M3 Max has 3x 40Gbps USB-C ports, which support 4K 240Hz HDR video, audio (in/out), storage devices, networking, etc. HDMI 2.1 port for TVs, projectors and older monitors, shared speaker+mic 3.5mm port (modern headsets use one 3.5mm cable or USB-C or are wireless), a SD card reader (never used it, my camera sends photos to cloud directly nowadays). And a MacSafe port for charging, which I almost never use as USB-C supports 100W charging, while at the same time delivering 4K 240Hz image an connecting the keyboard + mouse which are connected to my monitor. Single cable to dock. No cable hell.
My M3 Max also has 2.4Gbps wifi and Bluetooth for wireless connections. Today most peripherals support wireless. Firewire was just 0.8Gbps and almost no device supported it. How was that better? Big clunky device with poor battery life and lots of single-use poorly supported ports?
Aditya@adityadotdev
This is what Apple took from us.
English

@Dansgaming It wasn't crashing, it had serious performance issues because of the chronically underpowered hardware it was running on, that and they screwed up the LOD settings, it works flawlessly on the PC and looks nothing like the tiny TV show set.

@GeneralEcchi @KSKaleido @TheGraySeed @durandalcomplex To be fair, I don’t think the Windows in HL2 are intended to be tempered glass. I think it’s just a technical limitation that made them look that way.
English

@Pendleton115 @KSKaleido @TheGraySeed @durandalcomplex yea, but it's for regular glass
I havent seen any tempered glass in that game
English

it’s still absurd to me how very few games do broken glass like Half Life 2 despite the fact it’s both a very performance/hardware light way of doing it, looks extremely convincing as well as providing good feedback to player input
𝙉𝙄𝙆𝙁𝙊𝙍@Nikfor_
Valve in 2004 was on a different timeline.
English

@KSKaleido @TheGraySeed @durandalcomplex Half-Life Alyx has a similar technology, but improved upon and even more impressive if I’m not mistaken.
English

@TheGraySeed @durandalcomplex Even Portal 2, all the glass that breaks is pre-canned animations. Very disappointing.
English

@demetherself If you’re looking for a similar show to Silo, I can recommend Snowpiercer.
It’s a bit rockier, but still lots of fun!
English

The reactions to this are a reminder of how little people understand computer graphics and what is possible. This is unremarkable & how it should have been but nobody would beleive you if you said that earlier. It could be a lot higher.
