"Europe tried that": I genuinely think, due to cultural differences, European family policies would lead to higher birth rates in US. If I'm wrong, then it would result in a society with slightly lower birth rates but less child poverty and high social mobility. Also fine by me

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself. In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.

Sam Altman has admitted he is on a waitlist for a procedure that would digitize his brain. The procedure would kill him. He considers this an acceptable trade for digital immortality. This is the person making decisions about the future of artificial intelligence for hundreds of millions of users. A man who views ending his own biological life as a reasonable step toward uploading his consciousness to the cloud. These are not the priorities of a stable leader.
